The Eagles actually made this work with Sam Bradford and Carson Wentz. So we'll see what happens.

But Cousins got a raw deal last night. Could work out for him if he gets shipped to a contender.

And, of course, he still gets the money.
He's got to know that his contract is essentially a two year deal. He gets his 110m and hits the FA market again in 2 years. Such a raw deal lol.

Daniels is the only I really “like”.

And he’s so damn skinny I worry about him too.

I was thinking that I don't like any of them, which means one or two will probably be Hall of Famers!

Falcons picking Penix is total nonsense imo. I think you can realistically do that if you're picking at 20 or something like that. At pick 8, they were getting trade back offers. You're losing 2+ potential starters for taking Penix who is a backup for at least 2 years. They could've traded back and gotten Dallas Turner, Q Mitchell, or Latu who had been mocked at 8 and also picked up at least a 2nd rounder.

Reportedly 3 teams tried to trade into the top 10 for Penix. That might be those calls.

AJ Terrell is probably set to get $28-30 mil a year after the season or whatever the highest paid CB gets. Cousins cap hit is $40mil in 2025 and $57.5mil in 2026. It kinda sounds like Atlanta thinks they already have all of their pieces and they are just juggling money and with Cousins the money becomes too much so they have a smooth transition.

So I guess that begs the question: do they have a Super Bowl roster?
Big need at edge rusher IMO

Bc they picked Penix at 8. Paying him big money to sit 2, 3 or 4 years. Injury prone and already 24 years old + they gave a QB $100M guaranteed in the offseason. Even in 2026 he will have a $35M dead cap hit
2 years, no more. 100M of Cousins' deal is in years 1 and 2.

Yeah, I think historically we're looking at 2 franchise QBs out of 6 on average. Regardless, 6 new QBs shakes up the NFL a ton.
On average is key. Who's to say this isn't the upper outlier vs the lower outlier of 2022?

But if he is the number 1 dude on their board it doesn’t make sense to trade down. If their number 1 guy is there, why trade and get number 5 and 10. I do understand the pick doesn’t necessarily make sense but it’s not like they traded up for him
Especially if the teams trying to trade up want Penix. There were reportedly 3 teams trying to trade into the top 10 for Penix, surprisingly enough.

Not saying Rome isn’t good or potentially great. Just no fan would’ve heard of him if it wasn’t for Penix being the star he was.

How many of those "contested" catches were the result of Penix dropping the ball accurately into very tight coverage?

I kinda get the Falcons move. If you're convinced that the best way to groom a QB is to sit him for a year or more (like Cousins was), this is the ONLY way to do that. I've seen a bunch if QBs drafted and they stated "Oh, this guy needs to sit and learn for a year or two. Then he'll be a good starter." Malik Willis was a recent one that comes to mind, but there are a bunch of examples. The team starts losing, mostly because they need a QB. So they put the guy who needed some years to develop gets put in. And predictably sucks. And then they give up on him.

I'm more shocked that New England took Drake Maye. That guy looks like one who needs time to develop. And that team doesn't have a supporting cast to help him at all. Not a single offensive weapon or difference maker. The line needs work too. And the rumor was Minny was offering #11, #23 and a first next year and possibly more than that. They could have rebuilt their line this year with those picks, added some weapons for him and drafted a QB next year.

That was a baffling pick to me based on the fact Penix will be 28 by the time Cousins' contract expires. Brandon Weeden 2.0?

Is it me, or does Robert Kraft always sound like he's 2/3 of the way through happy hour? I'm assuming he had a significant stroke and just never recovered all the way?
