I know Sabey Sabes used to love taking project arms like that in the draft. No idea what the success rate on those guys are, though.

But if you get 5 guys who get at least a cuppo out of a single draft class, you did pretty well, so there is that…
Although if every draft is guys who only get a cuppo the after 5 to 10 drafts you will probably be last most every year.
This isn't a highish 1st round pick like Beede, but how often do guys without control really develop in the Majors or even minors to make any impact on a good team? Does anyone know here of drafted guys from College who have solved at least well enough to do something at the Big Leagues?

My thoughts were triggered from someone on our Sharks forum on another site, had done year ago, the detailed research on one specific hockey position with particular attributes. His research showed that of drafted Defensemen if they didn't have a minimum amount of offensive points totals in CHL, College or European league that of those drafted over liked 30 years (not remembering the exact numbers so an approximation from flawed memory) only like 3 out of like 300 drafted with below threshold numbers even made the NHL. So with that in Mind I would have my people do studies on which types have the lowest hit rates whatever the position and attributes show a correlation. It would be a industry secret type thing with those results as to keep an advantage on your competition.

Just looking at the MLB ranks of the Giants picks, this is a horrible draft for the Giants.

I know those ranks you see on you monitor aren’t even worth the paper they are printed on. Just point8ng out that the Giants are really going against the grain with this draft.
I tried this strategy in my fantasy baseball league, reaching for premium position players earlier than their average draft position suggested that they would go. On a separate note, my fantasy baseball team is sitting in last place in its league. Still trying to figure out what went wrong.

There should be someone in the scouting department or analytics department that could answer that. How knows if anyone in the FO knows that answer.

Hey the 10th round pick for the Giants last year was a bit older too.

Fun fact: I have a good friend with the same name as our 10th rounder last year. I send him updates on his progress from time to time. We went together to the only game we lost to the Brewers.

Not sure what that means.

Surprisingly, no team has more than 2 1st rounders who became HOFers

They know more about the kids available.
They know more about the kids we have in our system.
They know more about how to develop kids.
They know more.

Given that…

Are they fucking stupid? This is a ridiculous looking draft class.

Does he catch as well?
Nope ... I hear that they are bringing Posey back to work exclusivdly with Gonzalez ... then he will be able to play the putfield, catch and pitch ... all in the same gsme ... it slso allows them to use a draft pick for a non catcher .... maybe even a rare pick ... like a middle infoelder

I heard Buster is coming back to work exclusively with third basemen.

19. Cade Perkins P HS Senior 18 yo
20. Ethan Long 1B ASU 4th year Senior 21 yo

totals:
Two Way Player - 1
Pitchers - 10
OF - 2
C - 3
2B - 1
SS - 1
1B - 2

So a fairly balanced draft. 10.5 pitchers, 9.5 hitters. 17 college, 3 HS.

Lets see how many they sign.
