Interesting. I don't know much about him other than he has piled up an awful lot of tackles over his career.

He's a top 10-12 ILB with decent coverage skills. Tough guy that makes a bunch of tackles. Not sure how much of a priority MLB is but next to Von and Trevathan we could have a great mix of linebackers.

Both sides "mutually agree to part ways". Could be there`s been discussion between Browns and a "suitor" to be named later before annoucement which happens quite often. Hmnnn.... How important is playing for a SB contender after 6 yrs of cellar dweller mean for Mr. Jackson? Denver Broncos maybe?? :noidea:

So why was he dropped by the Browns?? Not exactly a ringing endorsement there.

My guess is just about every MLB and Safety that hit the market will be players the Broncos look at. Jackson was at one time regarded as one of the best ILB's in the NFL. His production has dipped the last couple of years (not so much in tackles but just overall ability) but part of me wonders if some of that is just the team he was on. Usually when you are surrounded by subpar talent it is hard to keep playing at the level that people expect as you are having to do more.

He is definitely worth a look and would solve one of our major issues on defense. Elway has said his plan is to go into the draft with no glaring holes on either side of the ball so that they can truly take best player available and not have to reach for somebody. Right now the holes in my opinion (and some of this depends on who we resign of our own players) are MLB, Corner if DRC is not resigned and even if he is with Bailey getting up in age, Safety, DE, Guard, and WR. So expect the Broncos to sign players to every single one of those positions with my guess one being a big signing like we did last year with Vasquez.

Change of ownership, coaches, he will be 30 in September (if memory serves) he has been solid not great overall. I still think he is better than anyone we have right now.

I also heard he was ready to move on from the Browns. To be honest, I don't blame any player wanting out of that place. They are about to turn into the raiders with a revolving door of coaches and schemes and if they take Manziel I would guess they are going to be in the cellar for a while. I think that dude has bust written all over him.

Essentially there were 2 reasons the Browns cut him in my opinion. He was about to have a huge roster bonus kick in and his cap number for this upcoming season was $9.43 million. They save about $5 million in cap space by letting him go. The 2nd reason is he is a much better 4-3 MLB than he is a 3-4 ILB. Before Cleveland switched to the 3-4 Jackson was actually talked about as a top 5 MLB in the NFL. Some players just play better in certain schemes and Jackson is one of those. He does his best in space and the 3-4 can cause a player to get very jumbled up.

To me those two reasons are why he is being cut.

I`ll bet he hopes Miami calls. Being as he`s Florida born and played for State too. Pretty sure they play a 4-3

very interested in seeing what happens here.. Broncs have to get a much better defense on the field, hopefully champ goes to safety like I was saying before this season started, Great player just getting too old to stay with the young guys.. Von is a huge liability and all any of us can do is cross our fingers he doesnt do ANYTHING stupid and I mean anything.. Wolfe getting back will be great.. DRC really needs to get locked up

I get the impression Bailey won't be around in 2014. Cutting him is risk free, and it's better to keep players more in their prime.

Von a huge liability? How do you figure? At worst, he's a non-contributor, at best, he's a beast for opposing OC's and QB's to deal with.

Well the Bronco reps met with DRC's agents and have put him as their #1 priority this off season to lock up so I would expect he is back. There is even talk of using the Franchise Tag if need be at this point.

Jackson is in town tonight. It will be interesting to see if the Broncos let him leave without a contract. .

Has he visited Redskins yet? I hear theres some ties with former coach, etc. I`am sure he`s not done "touring" but hopefully he likes what he hears in Denver and cuts trip short:)

Yeah saw that. Looks like a 4-year 22 million with 11 guaranteed contract. My guess is the Broncos are looking more for a 1-2 year type stop gap player unless they can find a young guy like Smith.
