Win now mode is a serious mistake that we seem doomed to repeat.

Stafford wont net the WFT more wins, especially with a first place schedule, and minus tge draft capital.

I don't get the hesitation on Stafford from people. The guy is easily a top 10-12 QB and obviously would be far better in a place where he has more talent than he had in Detroit. You've got about a 10% chance of drafting a QB 1st round who ends up a better QB than Stafford and that number of 10% doesn't mean that young guy will be better right away, just eventually.

Especially at 19

I think Mac Jones could be had in the 2nd. Id target him. Heck maybe he'd be ready in two years

If we are in win mode now we will fail and not be a consistent winner. Mistake we always make

This team has enough young good players on its roster. Now its time to get a veteran who can win for you

he doesn't win when it counts, thats the hesitation. If you're a Falcons fan, Ryan has gotten screwed over by bad coaching and should have won multiple Superbowls. Stafford on the other hand, has not been clutch when it really counted, and has gotten a PASS

Washingtons D is legit. They need a solid QB to compete for the NFC and the problem with "building " is by the time you draft a QB and he takes a few years to get up to speed you can't afford to keep your D together AND think about extending your QB anyway. It's why we see so many teams stuck in 8-10 win purgatory . Good enough to make the playoffs frequently but then they can't pay their guys so they keep being decent but not great or awful . You should APWAYS go for it in the NFL

Deal for Staff....in 2 years he resigns. He will cost less than Watson. In terms of draft picks.

On a better team with better coaches Stafford would do better. Even here. If you get him, I think he’ll win more than he did in Detroit. In Detroit, he had 11-5, 10-6, 9-7, 9-7, and 8 losing seasons, no playoff wins. So you make the trade on what he’d do with this team, not Detroit, but I’d also not look at the stats he had or the throws he made when throwing to Megatron, though I do think McLaurin would be maximized with him and is better than who Detroit has had in awhile. How hard is Rivera’s system? Anyone know? Stafford has a few coaches, but not sure how he adapts or how much Rivera will adapt to him.

Eh. I'm not much of a " you only win in the playoffs because of QB play " type of guy. The Lions haven't had a roster anywhere near as good as Washingtons currently is for Stafford whole career

Is our offense that much better than Detroits? I think Stafford would thrive in this offense, but im concerned about his injury history

This

You want your team to "grow" with your qb ideally. Washington has a lot of guys in their prime. Stafford is on a very team friendly 20 million dollar deal and they can recoup most of that by cutting Smith. That leaves them the space to add more talent around him.

Obviously as a Browns fan I've painfully seen what late first round qbs can bring. More Brady Quinn's than Aaron Rogers.

that's a fair point, but a 1st & 3rd would be max. just too many QBs that will be available this year for cheap that should lead us to another division title. Philly should be a mess this year, Giants not quite there yet and Dallas continually drops the ball despite a loaded loaded roster
