I looked at this kids minor league stats, and I don't see anything since 2010. Where has he been? He is already 27, though. Not sure what kind ceiling he has. Org depth?

I think he went into the Summer X-Games field. Didn't work out I guess.

Just saw that Martin Agosta retired on June 26th. I guess that his injuries were too big to come back from.

Also, Raymond Black was released from the organization on April 4th and not re-signed. I was somehow under the impression that the organization had re-signed him.

I think we discussed Ray Black earlier, he underwent another operation and is out another 3 months or so. I think he's unofficially still with the Giants though.

Too bad about Agosta. He looked real good his first pro season.

According to his milb.com profile, he was dfa'd on April 2nd and then released on April 4th. I don't know what the rules are for an organization to let a player use any facilities when that player is not under the team's control. Maybe there is some kind of verbal agreement to re-sign him once he gets healthy.

Thursday 7/6

Pitching Line: IP-H-R-ER-BB-K

Sacramento River Cats (AAA) lost 4-3

Orlando Calixte 2-4, HR (10), 1 RBI, 1 R, 2 E (6)
Tim Federowicz 3-4, 2 2B, 1 RBI, 1 R, 1 K, 1 E (5)
Juan Ciriaco 2-4, 2B, 1 RBI, 1 K
Ali Castillo 2-4, CS (2)

Tyler Beede 7.0-10-4-1-0-2. The line is a little odd, the errors forced Beede to throw a lot of extra pitches, but the reports I've heard from this game are overall positive. He had really good command with his fastball and changeup tonight. Induced 13 groundball outs which is fantastic. In the PCL, yo can't really trust the body of work, better to look at individual start-to-start.
Collin Balester 1.0-1-0-0-0-2

Richmond Flying Squirrels (AA) WALKED OFF 6-5

C.J Hinojosa 3-5, 3 R

Gustavo Cabrera 2-4, 2 2B, 1 RBI, 1 R, 1 SB (1). Maybe, just maybe, getting back into baseball shape.

Alex Bostic 2.2-1-4-4-5-2

Pitching Line: IP-H-R-ER-BB-K

Sacramento River Cats (AAA) lost 2-1

Orlando Calixte 1-2, 2B, 1 RBI, 1 K. Exited the game early. Could be as a result of the Slater injury.

Matt Gage 6.1-7-2-1-0-7
Tyler Rogers 1.2-2-0-0-2-0
Kraig Sitton 1.0-1-0-0-1-1

Richmond Flying Squirrels (AA) lost 5-4 in 11 innings

Sam Coonrod 6.0-5-4-2-2-3. Got 10 groundouts in this game. That's pretty good for him
Seth Rosin 2.0-1-0-0-1-0. Came in with 2 on and allowed 1 to score.
Ryan Halstead 1.0-1-0-0-0-1
Vic Black 1.0-1-0-0-1-0
Carlos Alvarado 0.2-2-1-1-0-0

San Jose Giants (A+) lost 6-1

Aramis Garcia 3-3, HR (13), 2B, 1 RBI, 1 R, 1 BB. He threw out a runner at 3rd, and also picked a runner off at 1st. Also allowed 3 steals. He's thrown out 17 runners this year, and has 1 pickoff. His 31% CS is very solid.

Everyone else was 0-27 with 10 K's, 0 BBs

Conner Menez 5.0-7-4-4-1-3
Michael Cederoth 2.0-1-0-0-3-3. Again, thank you very much Minnesota. Saw some of the wildness today, but this makes 7 scoreless games, 12 scoreless innings.
Caleb Simpson 1.0-2-1-1-0-0
Carlos Diaz 1.0-1-1-1-0-0

Augusta GreenJackets (A) lost 7-2

Sandro Fabian 2-4, HR (5), 2B, 1 RBI, 1 R.

Does that mean that technically, Shaw hit his first AAA HR before he hit his first AA HR this year?

Herb is flying high with his first win as a Giants.

I look forward to the day when Tostado comes into the game after Herb and Sparky hits a HR. Of course, this happens the same day Timmeh is honored on the Wall of Honor (or whatever the f that thing is called).

@Stokes1931 , did I say something off on this email? I saw that you (or Cal) edited it.

I saw that I had entered 7/11 as Monday, and it was Tuesday. (I woke up this morning thinking it was Tuesday. The heat is getting to me, and I am doing my third memorial service of the week today.)

So I changed the quoted part from Monday to Tuesday.

The facepalm rating is that I agree with you about the relief pitching. Start 'em young, I say. :D

I have been tempted to track the RISP at each level of the org, but just don't have the time. It is clear, though, that whatever they are teaching the hitters is not resulting in good at bats which lead to scoring runs with guys on base. And since as an org we are adverse to home run hitters, we must get better at this.
