Any word if he's behind the bench or just behind the scenes guy as a coach? Also, I think the Isles should consider bringing more experience into the front office before getting another player, with no experience in the field involved.

Weight will coach the Powerplay, travel on the road with the team & be behind the bench for every game, while helping Garth on the management side as well.

I imagine a some of the management stuff will be public relations in terms of telling possible UFA signings what a great place L.I. is to live.

Actually under the circumstances I think Garth has done a pretty good job. I don't agree with everything he's done, but nobody agrees with everything their team does.

When he took over the prospect pool was bare. It's in much better shape now. The team itself believe it or not is improving. Some want the quick fix. I understand that. The problem for them is Wang tried it once & it failed. I'm willing to be patient.

I know man, i was just kidding around. Isles have some good young talent in the system, Nino, DeHaan, Poulin. Build around Tavares, Okposo, Bailey etc... get Streit healthy again. They have a bright future ahead of them.

They did get an arena deal done, correct?

I've actually really been impressed with these last couple of escalating contracts that he's signed.
He's created $3.8m in artificial cap for next season in Okposo and Grabner. Boom... there's your floor reached.
you can be damned sure that there will be a strong market for those guys at the end of their deals when they are cap bargains, if they choose to move either (not forced to, of course, but there's value created in that cap discrepancy).
in the mean time, Wang gets to hold the cash for longer than he otherwise would (finance 101: time value of money)

Yeah Garth hasn't had a ton to work with in terms of talent or finances until the recent prospects started showing some promise. The blackmail pics Glen Sather has however, now those could be interesting.

There's going to be a vote on August 1st for a bond initiative for 400 million dollars. If passed the Islanders will have a new arena in Nassau County. Most people in the know are saying it's going to pass.

That's great news because the bottom line is that building is the reason for their recent failures. If a player goes on a road trip and visits the state of the art Prudential center, then plays in MSG in front of those fans, then they go to Nassau, when they become free agents which teams would they rather sign with?
