And there is no excuse for a 3 loss team to end up ranked #3 in the polls. Just like the majority of the time there is no excuse for the preseason rankings USC gets.

The only team that comes close to getting the same level of bias USC gets is Notre Dame. Followed probably by Texas.

Please show me the defenses that have shut down.3 or more top 50 scoring offenses and are statistically a top ten scoring defense. I just would like to see if there are any defenses that meet your standards of elite.

How many top 50.defenses do they need to shut down?
What is the definition of shutdown? 0 points? 10 points or less? Under 20 points.

Badgers only face one more top 50 scoring offense and that's OSU who is in the top ten. Do we have to hold them to 0 offensive points and under 100 total yards to make your elite defensive Teams?

You can put up stats all you want but that doesn’t excuse the fact that the level of competition is pitiful on the offensive side of the ball. An in the last 5 one has won it. What I’m getting at is the days of the SEC having more than 1 team winning it all seem to be trending to an end. So the SEC earning the benefit of the doubt should be fading away. (Talking conference not bama)

An that’s why I said take FSU, Miami, and OU out too. IMO no conference has earned the right for Playoff bias. Certain teams maybe, but conferences heck no.

An 20 years ago is a heck of a longtime. Especially when using criteria for how to judge now.

5 different teams from the SEC have won 10 of the Championships in the past 20 years.

You really love to ignore the fact that you haven’t played dick for offenses. Newsflash, THERE ARE NO ELITE DEFENSES IN COLLEGE FOOTBALL. There is no Magical criteria. I already said Wisconsin has a great defense. But calling them elite is such a humorous thing when you haven’t played any good offenses.
