Appearing on 97.1 in Columbus, Ohio, ESPN's Adam Schefter said the Browns won't be acquiring Jimmy Garopppolo no matter what they offer the Patriots.

Schefter added it's not about the Browns' offer; it simply sounds like the Patriots intend to hold onto their promising backup. The Browns have been stockpiling draft picks, potentially as a way to seduce the Patriots into giving them Garoppolo, but it apparently isn't going to work. Another team that was interested in Garoppolo, the Bears, have already moved onto Mike Glennon as their starter. The Browns will need to explore other avenues in their quest for a franchise passer.

Nah Dean... Browns are loaded with picks this draft and next. This trade could be RG3-esque.... but I doubt we get quite that much.

I agree. That's an easy offer to accept, but it's not happening for several reasons. No NFL team is giving up 2 first rd picks for Cousins, and I doubt Cousins (or any other QB with options) would be willing to sign a LTD in Cleveland.

i would feel comfortable rolling with McCoy under the right circumstances

give him weapons at Wide Out ... which they have accomplished with Reed, Crawford, Pryor, Davis & Doctson

give him a weapon at RB .... either signing Adrian Pederson or highest ranked RB in the draft

&

a ridiculous amount of draft picks (multiple first rounders & multiple 2,3,4th etc)

Sounds nice Dean and it could happen. They have the money and draft picks and a decent OL. Doubt they will give us a #1 b/c they know about the circumstance we are in. But there are rumors of them trading 2 #1's for Garoppolo. So it could happen.

As I understand it, Cleveland was stockpiling for a move to get Garp, ,however N.E. has balked at any suggestions of a trade like that. It doesn't mean that Cleveland won't attempt to sweeten the pot a bit in its offer to them. If Cleveland is convinced that there won't be a deal with them, it's possible that they turn their sights towards us for Cousins. Right now, I'm not sure that Danny and Bruce will be receptive to any offers for Kirk. My gut tells me that we're going to be back here again talking about what this organization is going to do with and about Kir4k. We will see.

Adam Shefter doesn't know shit about what the Browns and Patriots are doing. If he's so tuned in, where was he when the trade went down for Dwayne Allen? The signing of Stephon Gilmore? the trade today for Kony Ealy?

The question is this........why is trying so hard to convince NFL fans that the Patriots will not deal JG? They dealt Seymour, Mankins, Jones and Collins...........Belichick would trade his mother for the right picks.

We can trade him. But if we trade him to the Browns he still has two options that Dan cant control.

1. He can refuse to show for the Browns. After all his contract is with Washington. If he does that and Dan gets mad and releases him, we still eat the $24M unless he then signs on with another team and signs a long term deal (in which case we get NOTHING in return, not even a comp ppick)

2. He can go play for the Browns on the tag, but refuse to sign a long term deal. In which case he becomes the Browns problem for sure, but knowing he has that option, I doubt the Browns give up the #12 pick unless they are pretty sure Kirk will sign long term, and the #1` is probably off the table unless WE throw in a bit more to the trade.

Since I keep hearing 2 first rounders are not law -- i bet cousins would be traded for either the #1 overall or the #12 and #33. Nothing in 2018 Skins get Garrett and QB if one is left. or Skins get 3 good players.
I do believe Dan and Bruce want to see what Cousins can do with less offensively, so they really may not trade him
