Well, what I intended it to mean was Kershaw is pretty much in a class of his own right now. Simply the best pitcher in the game right now. I don't look forward to seeing him ( even though I'll probably be at the game:yahoo:) pitch against KC next week.

Ah, then I read it wrong.

I was kind of bummed because my family and I go to see Kershaw on the mound against the Rockies every year, and of course the one year we don't, he throws a no-hitter :L. Hope you have fun at the game bud but I'm hoping Kershaw makes it miserable for you. :suds:

I decided to look at Clayton Kershaw's numbers, and a cursory glance suggests that he might actually be getting unlucky this year.

He's been more effective in terms of quality of contact, elevating his GB%, and giving up a lower slugging% on balls in play of every sort, but his BABIP allowed is higher than usual.

There's a chance that Kershaw could see fewer hits allowed going forward.

This is also the first season since his rookie year that his ERA is higher than his FIP and xFIP.

His career trends and peripheral stats suggest that, maybe, Kershaw has been unlucky this season with respect to hits and runs allowed, and that, perhaps, his ERA could regress throughout the rest of the season to something around 1.00 even.

Given that he gave up 36.8% of all of his runs this season in 0.7% of his innings pitched, I don't think that's all that unreasonable to expect, honestly, even if it seems that way on the surface.

I'm not guaranteeing Kershaw will finish the year with that low of an ERA, or that his BABIP allowed will lower below career norms (his batted ball profile allowed is less conducive to balls falling in for hits than usual), but I guess what I'm saying is that the massive scoreless inning streak was not so unexpected a result, and that he might start another one shortly.

I'm sorry, but whoever really thinks that Clayton Kershaw shouldn't be the favorite for winning the 2015 Cy Young should rethink their reasoning.

But then again, at least he gets mad at himself and doesn't yell at the batter like Madison Bumgarner.

Kershaw was probably mad because Gallo destroyed what looked like a pretty darn good pitch.

The real bummer is that the game would have likely looked very different if Joc Pedersen played because of what he brings on D.

The blooper to center that scored a run likely would have been caught, which would have translated to "play at the plate" on the shallow throw from center on the tagging runner rather than a force at 2B.

Kershaw has high expectations of himself. Joc usually gets pretty pissed when he strikes out at the plate as well, I'd rather have players take things seriously and get mad rather than not caring.

Clayton Kershaw has never been crowned the best pitcher in baseball because he's usually great during the season but disappears in the post season and tonight was definitely hittable. When I think of great pitchers it's not just the stats it's how they performed in high pressure situations. I think of pitchers like Bob Gibson who won SEVEN straight World Series games in the 1960's. Until Kershaw can perform in high-stress games then he's just another talented pitcher who underachieves.

Clayton Kershaw without a doubt is one of the best pitchers in Major League Baseball. However, quietly as it is kept, he is slowly developing a reputation as a pitcher who lately has been unable to delivered in the clutch. Kershaw jumps out of the gate and looks unbeatable for 4 or five innings and then runs into a wall with an invisible door. Once that door is open, for some reason he cannot close it. Last night was a good example. In the meantime, the Dodgers are counting on him big time to pitch them to the promise land. Can he do it? Remains to be seen.

He's a dick...he KNEW his team doesn't stand a chance of playing in October, so he helped the AL get home field for the Series this fall, which will only serve to hurt the eventual Pennant winners, the Mets

One of the best pitchers in the game right now, only thing that could make him better is playoff success.
