Doc will not be fired, but Strickland will be hired

Tom Osborne doesn't beat around the bush, and he also doesn't interview new prospects for a head coaching position midway through the season and then release it to the media.

The reason he released this information is because Strickland will be on the staff effective immediately following the end of this season. And he will be an assistant, with huge responsibilities in the recruiting department. Beings that he is an ex-NBA player, TO thinks that Strickland will be able to lure in recruits.

Remember halftime of the Indiana game??? Doc said afterwards that Strickland came into the locker room and gave the team advice on the offensive side of the ball.......and Doc gave Strickland all the credit for our offense coming out and playing well in the 2nd half.

As soon as I heard Doc say that, I remember thinking "Strickland will be on this staff before long......."

The time has come, and I am happy about it

I'm sure Strickland absolutely sees it as an opportunity to move his way up the ladder. He also loves the Huskers too, so it's probably his dream job.

I am just excited to get him in and give him a chance to recruit. Somehow we gotta generate some sort of interest for these kids coming out of high school so that we don't have to fly over to Germany and Spain to pick up players.

I would think making the best facilities and arena in the country, plus getting an ex-NBA player on the staff would be a good start.

After these threads today figured I better listen to the TO show from last night. Biggest thing I got out of it was LOLing at Tom LOLing at the idea a southern team having to play a road game at Lincoln in late December or January. In the new proposed 4 team playoff.

Heard what TO said about Strickland. I'll be happy if he ends up as an assistant I guess. Maybe Doc wouldn't be so happy about it, I don't know.

All I know is Doc needs a shot at this thing with our new facilities and arena. If Strickland can help, great.

He sounds like a guy who is high on meds..........

And he also sounds like he will be an assistant on Doc's staff from what I gather.

I'm actually glad that he mentions right off the bat that he is high on meds, cuz otherwise I would be really concerned about this guy joining our staff. He is just blabbering on and on about nothing.

All he's talking about is what he can do as a recruiter and how it can help Doc get to the next level............



The segment just finished........listened to every second of it..........and I still know that he will be an assistant primarily focused on helping with recruiting.

Well he isn't going to come on and say he is going to come in and take over. He wouldn't do that to Doc. I never said he would be the head coach next season. Just that he would be the next head coach.

I did not. Talk is cheap. I don't listen to "coach talk". Especially a coach trying drum up interest with his first gig where he is completely unqualified.
