The only time Tom Osborne really dicked around with 2 QBs at once was in the Orange Bowl against Miami.

That was mainly because he didn't know for sure what he was going to be getting out of Tommie after sitting all season and what not.

It worked out for us, but we did struggle until the very end of the game.

I was thinking about that today actually at work.......imagine if we struggled through this schedule after a bunch of us called it easy.

The UCLA game is gonna tell us pretty much how the season is gonna go.

If we beat them with ease, we're going to be strolling into Ann Arbor undefeated and ranked somewhere around #5 in the country.

UCLA brings back 4 out of 5 of their offensive lineman and Hundley... 8 returning starters in all. They're gonna be a handful.

They also return the majority of their front 7 including Barr who will be an all pac-12 candidate.

5'9" 193 JR Jordon James who was a top 10 4 star back out of HS
5'8" 180 SR Damien Thigpen who was a top 25 4 star athlete out of HS

Like you said, that game is gonna tell us a whole lot.

Who knows. Maybe Bo finally has the athletes to be able to do what he is asking of them, and his defensive scheme wasn't really too complicated after all.

Honestly, could it get any worse than last year? I mean, if you are gonna lay an expectation out there, raise the bar a little bit. Last years DL absolutely sucked.

We return the only piece of our Defense that did any good last season in the Secondary........

Just because the d-line can't be 'any worse' doesn't mean it'll be better. Unless a DT the likes of Suh or Dorsey step up, I'd expect more of the same.

There's just not an excuse for Pelini (5th year HC) to lose to UCLA last year. The stadium was 50% Husker faithful, it was Mora's first year coaching a team that finished (6-8) the prior year. UCLA looked pretty average the rest of it's season.

Nobody expects a coach to come in and make an immediate impact. They're always given 2-3 years to get their system in place. Same can be said about Meyer and O'Brien.

Pelini is getting out-coached. Call me a hater, but he's an average coach with top-notch facilities and that's what's enabled him to eek out 9 win seasons by the hair of his ass.

Stein and Meredith's numbers were abysmal. I think someone could have just stood there and put up similar #'s. When I look at their career sacks, TFL's, and solos I just shake my head that they were fixtures for so many years. They knew Pelini's X's and O's and that's why they were on the field. The Nebraska rushing defense is a direct reflection on Pelini as is the rest of the team.
