I agree with your final 4. This is why I think Clemson losing gives us a chance. If Clemson wins out, we need help from a couple of teams. If Clemson falls out, we have a better chance.

NC has been playing some of the best football in the nation. They have one loss against a rival in the first game of the year, yet they are only ranked #14 in the playoff. I think it is because the committee doesn't want a team in the playoff that has an NCAA investigation hanging over their head. There are some people on the committee who don't have a background in athletics. I think those individuals don't want to give the benefit of the doubt to a team that hasn't taken academics seriously. I think Julius Nyang'oro may end up doing more to affect the playoff this year than anyone.

If Florida beats FSU and then beats Bama, Florida will make it in. No way a one loss SEC champ gets left out. I agree on Oklahoma, if they lose.

We are currently behind 3 one loss teams in the playoff ranking. Oklahoma lost to Texas (4-7), Alabama lost to Ole Miss (8-3), and MSU lost to Nebraska(5-7). Clearly the quality of the loss isn't as important as it was earlier in the season.

i don't agree with your premise. often a team that you lose to will drop below you. in this instance i think clemson, with a timely loss, COULD drop below nd at this point in the season. if clemson dropped to #6 do you think nd would automatically drop to #7?
