There's an even dumber component to this move?

By that I mean that there must have been an already agreed upon move for Kirk with another team, right?

If not, the deal for Smith is akin to taking a leak, on your back, in a head wind, and therefore taking this a new low in Dumb-assitry. (I know)

Like I said in another post .... shark nailed this. There are a lot of elements that led to this though. We know SM tried to low ball him and wanted to see more. That is mistake 1. After the 2016 season Bruce low balled him again. I think it eventually got to be a giant pissing match just like shark has said all along. Both sides dug in and there was no way they were going to come to an agreement.

After completely screwing up the situation Bruce and or Dan went after Smith which was probably the best and safest scenario and they got him for Fuller.

If the FO was willing to pay Smith $71 million then they weren't that far from what should have been Cousin's money. I just think they got to the point where it couldn't be fixed and it was time to move on.

It isn't what I wished for but it is what it is now.
