I don't ever hear of it.
I don't ever hear of a player from New York.
I never hear a mention that there is any college team with a player from those States.

New York and New Jersey are huge States, right.
If they play high school football, shouldn't they be a juggernaut of recruiting like Florida/Texas/California??

Maybe they don't.
I hear about Alaska football the exact same amount of times that I hear about New York Football.

Did they suspend it or something. and if they do play, why don't you hear about players coming out of that State.

Yes, NJ actually has a decent number of guys go to D1. Guy I graduated with is in the NFL, Brian Cushing (total douche) played at Bergen Catholic which is a big prep school here. It's big but nowhere near the South/Friday Night Lights scene.

Eli Apple, Corey Clement, Jabrill Peppers, Quenton Nelson, Noah Brown, Mike Gesicki, Minkah Fitzpatrick, Brandon Wimbush, and Rashan Gary are some of the names to come out of NJ in the past 4 years. Given the size, it actually produces good high school talent.

I don't think NY produces all that great of talent, however.

Midwest schools get a good amount of top tier players from those states. Does seem like more come from Jersey than New York tho which is strange

There's no doubt some decent kids that come out of NY State.....mostly from the NYC area. Attacked is 2017 top 20....not a one of them rated 5 stars though.

2017 Top New York Football Recruits

MY opinion is there are a couple of factors and one being the NE mainly pushes bball ... lots of gyms, not much room for football stadiums. And that plays big nowadays because you need room to build the multi-million dollar places going up down south. The cities in NY have all of the money while rural NY is broke dick poor. So where there is funding, there's no land area and where there's land, there's no money.

Next is NY is a sue happy state and there has been a monster push away from football towards soccer. See my signature to see how I feel about that. When Coach Mac was at SU, I carried my balls around in a wheelboro. Today.....people think SU has always been a bball school. :L But I digress.

If a family has money and their kids a stud, my guess is they are heading to prep schools in Texas.

So kids come out of New York and play in college but they are embarrassed about it.
Why is that.

You literally never hear a word about it.

The number of players playing locally around where I live (PA) has gone down, especially this year. All of the local teams are struggling but especially the Jr High teams. We have 4 high schools in the county I live in and 3 of them can't even get 20 kids for 7th and 8th grade. I'm sure concussions are playing a huge part in this.

I live close to the NY border and you don't ever hear of any D1 players that are close. There are some decent small level schools in NY near by, but no huge recruitment news.

Yes. You can see NJ high school football each week on the BiG channel ... look for Rutgers games. :boink:

The funny thing is if Rutgers could retain ANY of the in state talent they'd actually be a serviceable program. Instead the top end talent goes elsewhere and Rutgers is Rutgers.
