Does Cleveland make the deal? Do the rich get richer?

Sure, 1st overall....in the second round. If there's competition for the pick, maybe the Browns get reckless and offer the #12. No way in hell does Garappolo get the #1 overall in return.

There has been some chatter that a certain coach of a losing team last night has some interest in The Galloping Chicken.

I don't think the #12 would be reckless at all. If the Browns left the first round with Garrett and Garoppolo, they'd be a much better football team

It sure looks like Garoppolo is better than any QB in the draft. So #12 is not unreasonable.

But the Browns will fuck it up and Jimmy G. possibly ends up in San Francisco.

After what happened last year with Osweiler at a cost of $72million, I would be awful shy about going out on a limb for Jimmy G. But, then again, I'm not a GM of a NFL team.

I'm no GM, but I thought Osweiler was a scrub all along

Garoppolo has one more year on his rookie deal... unlike Osweiler, who was a free agent.

I don't understand why G chicken wouldn't have a contract based on how well he played with the new team. Pats have zero leverage unless multiple teams are going after Garapollo.

Even if Garoppolo is better than any QB in the draft, he isn't better than the top 20 players in the draft. An early 2nd rounder seems appropriate IMO.

I'm not sure NE can wrangle the #1 pick away from Cleveland. But the rich will get richer. Jimmy G will get NE some very compensation. He has a year remaining so he can be traded and if a team can't get a contract done they could franchise him. Kind of a one year prove it.
Regardless BB will turn the picks from a Jimmy G trade into a bunch of other picks, further cementing the future for the Pats.

I can't even imagine NE coming away with Myles Garrett. How scary would that make the Pats?

Yeah maybe. But that totally ignores the value of a quarterback vs. other positions. And the desperation of many teams picking early to acquire one.

And it's a weak draft for the position to boot.

Sorry charlie, but I didn't see anything out of Garapolo to warrant a high pick. I don't even think he will bring a 2nd rounder, which means teh Pats will keep him. No need to trade him for nothing.

Last night proved what kind of team was around JimmyG, no team looking for a QB has a SB Winning caliber team. I think they will all realize that. His compensation would be higher if Brady had come in and shit the bed this season.

I'm not saying he isn't good or that he will or won't go on to be a good QB. I just don't think anyone is paying a 1st rounder for him, not even sure a 2nd will be offered. just my opinion.

They'll need multiple teams chasing him to push the value up, and unless one of them panics and offers their 1st (San Fran, Chicago, Cleveland reportedly interested), I would assume they would top out with 2nd round offers, which Cleveland could trump at 2.1.

Wait, which QB in the draft would you take before Garoppolo?

Tough to tell in 6q's with Brady they scored 10 points a game more and left the other D off the team who knows

If I'm going to give up a 1st rounder, then he better have some skins on teh wall or be cheap for 4 years to see what we have. As is he will be cheap for 1 year and then UFA kicks in and he costs a lot more.
