He does shell out a lot of money right? Or am i incorrect? I wasn't saying he personally was going into the office and saying I want this player or this player, etc... Just shelling out the cash.
I mean, 50 million dollars is a lot to you or me, but the rest of the ownership paid over 2 billion.

lol @ Puig being an excellent RF.

He is average at best. The advanced metrics back this up. In 2015, he is on par with defensive stalwarts like Trumbo in RF...

Sure, he makes the occasional flashy play, but overall, I wouldn't even call him an above average RF.

I'll let you have your laugh, Dbacks fans don't have much to be happy about.

You know that Puig is far from an excellent defender in RF. You really have zero choice in the matter of me and the rest of baseball's fan base laughing at claims to the contrary.

Condescending douchebags are the calling card of Dodgers fans.

Saying he's no better than Trumbo defensively is just as ridiculous, ask any scout in the league if they'd rather have Trumbo or Puig. If Puig went on the trading block tomorrow every GM in the league would be calling the Dodgers up.

Anyone else remember when Dbacks fans were jumping for joy after they signed Trumbo? I do.

I would call Puig an above average right fielder, yes. I don't know if I would say excellent at this point.

Comparing him to Trumbo is laughable.

I wasn't claiming that he's some elite ball hawk out there, but Puig is no slouch. Great arm, great reads on the ball. He's a bit slow to get moving but his top speed is incredible. He can cover a lot of ground.

One thing Puig definitely is not is the defensive liability that Smed would have you believe.

There is pretty much zero similarity between Puig and Trumbo. That's a joke.

There you go again Villian, no where did I say Puig is a defensive liability. Obviously he is better than Trumbo, or alot of outfielders, but he isn't the great defensive outfielder that you think he is. As I said, he makes some great plays, but then turns around and makes some really boneheaded plays. I'll also put his arm up there against ANYONE! Overall though he has been an average outfielder when you look at his offense and defense, to say otherwise , only makes you a homer

I'm definitely a homer, but the numbers don't lie. Over the last 3 calendar years he has 149 wRC+ and a .383 wOBA. He's amassed 10.4 fWAR. Here's a few notable outfielders who are below him on that list:

Justin Upton, Matt Holliday, Jayson Werth, Nelson Cruz, Ryan Braun, Curtis Granderson, Matt Kemp, Carlos Beltran, Carlos Gonzalez, and the list goes on.

Or as you'd probably say, "average at best."

Once again, you just don't read or you just don't get it! I said other than his well above average debut, he has been average at best, what part of that don't you get? Last year he put up average numbers for an outfielder, this year is is putting up the same average numbers.
I've said all along he had a great start, the last two years he has been average, so his first year really doesnt matter at this point, he is an average outfielder putting up average numbers "right now".

Why do you always focus on one stat, if it's not "war" it's all about pitchers and how many strikeouts they have. Why don't you put up the list of guys that are ahead of him. The "war" stat is not the end al be all stat. Let's look at all the stats, and when you do, he is average!

Don't get me wrong, I like him, I'm glad he is a Dodger, he's still young and I think he will get better, but I try to look at things realistically and not be the homer that is blind to anything negative!

It's like alot of people on another site are up in arms because Kershaw wasn't picked for the AllStar team. Kershaw is undoubtedly the best pitcher in the majors, but no one is going to pick a guy that was 5-6 with an ERA over 3.00 ahead of the guys that were picked, thtas just kind of hard to justify to any non Dodger fan!

Bolsinger and Anderson are among the league leaders in % of groundballs, and combined they don't have as many Quality Starts as Kershaw. Just admit that you don't know what you're talking about. There's a lot of things Puig could improve on but the fact of the matter is that he's got superstar talent but he's getting paid way less than other players with his talent, you're complaining about nothing.

And what in the hell are you taking about? What does ground ball outs have to do with anything? Who said anything about Bolsinger or Anderson, or anything about quality starts. You're not telling me anything, Kershaw has only had a couple of bad starts all year, with any kind of offensive help,he would easily have 12 or 13 wins right now!

I admit Puig has star talent, but please tell me what he has done in the past two years that makes him any better than any average outfielder, right now! Potential means squat! I think he has tons of potential, but until he unleashes it, it means nothing!

Plus I'm not complaining, i already stated that im glad hes a Dodger, and that he has tons of upside, I'm just trying to get alot of you yahoos to be a little more realistic about what Puig has been over the past two years!

What he's been is a player who fans around the league pay to go to the game and watch, he's electrifying out there.

Seems you forgot your own post.

SO% means Jack shit, doesn't matter if every one of them is a ground ball. Ya a guy that gets 10+ strikeouts per 9 innings is a good guy to have, and it looks impressive, but an out is out.

You do realize, that a strikeout only counts as 1 out , just like any other out, don't you? I don't think they give out any bonus points for strikeouts?

His ERA is 2.85 right now, maybe you missed it due to watching the Angels. He's also near the bottom of the league in Run Support, was Kershaw supposed to go 5-0 during a streak where the Dodgers scored 2 or more runs twice in about 20-25 games? Like I said, you don't know what you're talking about.

You evidently don't read everyone's posts, or you don't comprenhend anything! The strikeout reference was to Villian who thinks our whole bullpen should be full of just strikeout pitchers, and he thinks Howell is having a bad year! I told him it doesn't matter how you get someone out, an out is an out!

As far as Puig, I've already said he can be a highlight reel, just because people come out to see him and he's "electrifying" doesn't make him an above average outfielder right now!

As far as Kershaw, you get a huge "DUH" the pitchers were picked before his last game, but thanks for the update Sherlock! You must not of read the part where I said " if Kershaw had any kind of run support he would easily have 12-13 wins right now.
Kershaw is the best pitcher in baseball, but I'm pretty sure no pitcher has ever been picked for the Allstar team with a 5-6 record and an Era over 3.00

Next time you respond have your shit straight!

You should really learn how to quote people lol. It's not difficult.

You edited your post afterwards to include the stuff about Kershaw, not my fault you originally had nothing to say. So what you're basically saying is that Puig has been average since his rookie year but you also think he's got superstar talent, has one of the best arms in the league and is able to be a highlight reel type of player. Okay, so what exactly are you saying? Break it down for me.

Sorry I have an iPad and sometimes things don't come out right, sorry that you are one of those geeky grammar police types, when you should get the jest. Sorry I don't have a nice computer in my mommy and daddies basement like some of you!

Ya I think he has potential, ya I think he is average right now, what part of that don't you get?

As far as Kershaw I went back and added whatever before you responded and everything I said was a fact!

As far as having nothing to say, you are about as bad as Villian, you throw shit out there that everyone already knows! as far as your post about tonight's game, wow, that was so informative, we didn't already know everything you posted there!

I had no beef with you, most of my responses are directed at Villian, because he doesn't have a clue, he is the one that thinks the strikeout is the only way to go, but then you accuse me of thinking that?

I've said all along that Puig is talented, he is just playing like an average outfielder right now! But here are the responses I get for that:
From MVPuig. "wrong"
From you. "people come out to see him because he is electrifying"

Those are weak responses and don't tell me why you think he is above average?

Then you go into this Kershaw tirade, and tell me things I already know! I don't like Bochy, but seriously he is suppose to select a guy with a 5-6 record and ERA over 3, come on get real, you do realize there are other pitchers who have a lot of no decisions and don't get run support. I said Kershaw is the best pitcher in baseball, he is also the leader or near the lead in a lot of other stats, but for the most part pitchers are picked based on their won loss record and ERA, that's just the way it is!

I say that strikeouts mean Jack Shit, and that an out is an out, then you try to enlighten me by telling me that SO's only count as 1 out, and that they don't give bonus points for them! Gee isn't that what I was telling Villian in that post, you pretty much try to rip me for saying the same exact thing you are trying to say, but I don't have a clue, if you are going read these post, please try to also comprehend what they say!

And again I reread my comments about Kershaw, I'm pretty sure I said he "was" 5-6, didn't say he is 5-6, i knew he won another game AFTER pitchers were selected, duh! again please take in all the words when you read before you go off on someone!
