Don't get me wrong. I have always thought Pelini was the right choice even when that coach I will never name was hired. I still think he is the right man but I think three things cost us this game.

1) Paul being left in the game. HE SUCKS IN BIG GAMES!!!
2) Martinez being left in as long as he was (Not Martinez fault. It was clear he was shutdown and would not have explosive plays nullifying his reason for starting)
3) That fucking on-side kick. I was screaming WTF are you doing?

I don't even know if it was Bo's decision but I think good coaching would have pulled this game out for us or at least given us a chance.

1. Paul should have been pulled after game 1
2. Wats should have opened up the passing game early, the zone read was shitting apart, and Taylor's passes were dead on
3. the onside wasn't that bad, we had to stop them either way..

I agree it is irrelevant because we didn't stop them but if we had stopped them the onside kick had already given the ball to them on our 42. They were in field goal territory. At that point the game was lost irregardless of if we stopped them or not.

The difference in the call would of been a punt at 3 and out as opposed to a field goal.

our 42 isn't FG territory, and there's always a chance to recover the kick..

that said, if i was coach, i would have kicked off

Okay not field goal territory but within yards of it. Less than a first down. I think the call ranked on the level of Les Miles' clock management. But then I am not paid to coach and would take the fool that would be willing to pay me for every penny I could get.

Any takers? :D

I agree with Paul should have been benched........

I disagree totally with Martinez being benched at all....... He can't catch the fucking ball too........ Yes, his reads were less than perfect- but he would have been putting up huge numbers through the air had the receivers showed the fuck up today..

I disagree with the onside kick- based on field position- and also execution....... If you are gonna fucking kick the onside kick...... It has to be executed better than that...... It was kicked 15 fucking yards......... It needs to be kicked 11........ Not one fucking person in red had a chance at getting that ball....

Biggest coaching fails were Watson's zero adjustments and Ted Gilmore not teaching receivers

we were conpletly out coached......the on side kick was a terrible call. Not just because it didn't work but we had three minutes and two timeouts. Field position was critical and texas was not going to throw it. Our defense should have been selling out to stop the run. We do not have a d lineman who has proveen that they can beat anybody one on one this entire year. NU let a big slow white man (gilbert grape) with a terrible o-line kill them on runs in the first half. Totally unprepared. Out coached by greg fucking davis......there is a very small % of coaches who can say that.

The onside kick was bad bad bad! Pin them deep and our defense doesn't get demoralized like they did when UT had the ball on our 40yd line after the bad bad bad onside kick call.

We have a shitty offensive line coach also. He sucked at ISU and he sucks here at NU.

Biggest coaching fails were Watson's zero adjustments and Ted Gilmore not teaching receivers

Ok, I agree about Watson's offensive game plan (pun very much intentional) but seriously guys. Who the fuck is Ted Gilmore? Yes, I know he's the receivers coach, but you can't fucking teach someone how to catch a ball. They either can or can't. As much as we are pissed with the shitty game by the receivers, it wasn't Gilmore's fault for not teaching them how to catch a football. A receivers coach, IMH uneducated opinion teaches how to create separation from the db, how to maintain blocks on the edge, but you don't fucking teach how to catch a football. OK, enough of ranting on the receivers coach being thrown under the bus.

Overall, I think the game plan was very poorly constructed. Texas was focused, intensely so at stopping Martinez and our running game. We didn't change anything or even have a plan to go downfield. The plays downfield were there and were being dropped. I just think early we should have kept throwing downfield to get Texas to back off a little and respect the receivers. Hell, now I'm just grasping. The receivers would of just probably dropped more balls.

Also, I didn't understand putting Lee into the game, but calling the same offenseive plays.

Just overall a weird game. The players and the coaches just didn't seem to have the focus. Players have to make the plays, but the coaches didn't seem focused and thinking proactively. I would of opened the game throwing play action down the field first 3 or 4 plays. Aww fuck, they probably would of been wide open and dropped anyways.....

I figured that Watson put Lee in so that the Huskers could open the playbook up a little(WRONG), but they still ran the same five or six offensive plays over and over again. If the Huskers had opened up the playbook, the recieivers probably would NOT have run the right routes anyway! Still, Texas was beatable but the receivers were too busy pouting on the sidelines to focus on the game. And yes, Martinez had some bad reads, but he still passed the ball pretty accurately minus the one he threw into the ground.
