Need 3 out of 4 in this series. Still only 6 back in the wild card and could use this series to maintain momentum.
It's ridiculous how every move by the Dbacks is criticized. The horrific Cahill is DFA and the only comments I've seen are smartass remarks from Dback bashers about how he isn't gritty and doesn't hit enough guys. According to these people Cahill is apparently "talented" and this was a "stupid" move. Towers brought it upon this team but it's evident that we are a laughing stock of the MLB.
Well...we should see the bullpen around the 5th inning. Jesus Christ.
Though he has options available, as a veteran with over five years of service time to his name, Cahill would need to agree to any assignment from the D’backs – and would not sacrifice future salary if he declines. Towers implied that he has agreed to do just that, says Nick Piecoro of the Arizona Republic (links to Twitter): “There’s a game plan in place for what we’re ultimately going to do, but as of right now he’s just designated.” Presumably, the club would allow Cahill to try to work out his issues while stretching back out as a starter.
