I for one, predicted a freefall after the trade and sadly I was right. Playoffs are gone for the 2nd straight year, when was last time that happened to us? I can't believe this but if you think about it how far have we fallen since we traded for Kovy? When we made that trade (Feb 2,2010) we were 35-18-2 and rolling toward #1 seed. Since then we slumped so bad that year we had to back into a #2 we didn't want cause of who was #7 and we all knew they were gonna kick our ass which they did, had our worst season ever (at least it would've been had it not been for the 2nd half miracle) Now we're slumping at the absolute wrong time again after another failed trade. I love having Kovalchuk on the team and I'm in no way solely blaming him but maybe he brought some bad karma or something with him because for all he's done good for us I'm seeing us do stuff I never have before.

wow we look pretty bad.. it could easily be 6-0.. i know its weird to say in a 2-0 first period game but marty saved us for the time being

No team on the outside looking in is good enough to jump us from the playoffs.

Give me the 6th seed and the Panthers in round 1. I'll be happy with that. Pens and Flyers are both playing much better then us right now but wont catch the Rags..let them kill each other in the 4/5 matchup.

If we somehow face the B's in the 1st round we might as well forfeit.

I hope you're right Irish and I'm dead wrong bout what I just said because call me spoiled but I can't handle 2 straight springs with no Devils playoff hockey. But I look at the standings and Washington/Florida/Winnipeg are all within 6 points of us and whichever one of them wins the SE the other two will be on our ass if we don't watch our step cause 20 games is plenty of time to make that up.

It would be a huge collapse if we missed out on the playoffs..I think most of our struggles recently have been because of the tough schedule more then anything. Goals have been really hard to come by and tonight isnt looking any better. Bound to turn it around eventually though.
