Devils about to sign Brunner

Saw the Vanek rumor last night..they want Henrique. I dont want to give him up.

Unless we can sign Grabovski to replace him , Brunner for the $ he would've gotten and then extend Vanek..Id give him 5 for $40 easily.

Not sure all that can happen though.

Yeah I wouldn't bet on it..Id give up 1 of the young Dmen though..JJ or Tedenby too. Plus a 2nd rounder.

All of this makes or breaks with Vanek being extended though. Cant give up anything if were only getting him for one year.

I dont need 3 straight July's of star players bolting.

Again, it's always about the money, but I think Brunner can be a positive addition to the team.

As for Vanek, it helps that we just made a deal with Buffalo. It means we've been in contact with the GM, they can get acquainted, get a pulse on each others situations. Vanek would be the ideal replacement for Kovy.

Nope only player that was extended last year was Zajac so he wouldn't be a UFA this offseason.

We would also need sign someone like Grabovsky. Him and Brunner could replace Kovy I'd say at 80-90%. They both have good skating speed and can score.

I agree about not trading for Vanek unless he's locked up. I'd prefer to wait until he hits the market next year, which if I'm him, I absolutely would.

I agree completely. He's an elite player and still young, but no way you can mortgage anything on him. I don't think we have a package that would entice buffalo anyway. They just drafted these two monster defensemen at the draft, so our strength isn't going to be what they're looking for.

The Devils will now have the cap space so if you want to throw a 5 year 6-7M contract at him next year, do that.

Brunner's highlights look pretty nice. I'd take him above pretty much everyone who is still left, not to mention he's young, so if he works out it was a great signing. Hopefully this happens.
