I'm interested to see how he'll play with some real defense in front of him in Nashville.
I don't see any way either team would make that trade - first of all, Columbus doesn't really need Cam Ward - both are starting goalies so it really wouldn't work - Also, if anything, it should be Gaborik and a 1st for Cam Ward because Gaborik's coming off an injury and he's going to be a free agent
Cam has to be getting close to the turning point where he moves to a 30% of the season backup and capable starter in the event of injury. Plus Bob might not be happy with his contract next year. So someone like Cam is an excellent insurance policy.
There are rumblings of a sign and trade with Gaborik, and he is a week ahead in rehabbing his shoulder. He should play at Sochi. Plus the Jackets have some pieces to add if necessary. But they want a goalie back and are dangling Gaborik.
I imagine they are also talking with Anaheim. As if that would be fair, adding Gaborik to that lineup.
so ... Columbus wants to allocate 11.9 million of cap space to 2 goalies??? Willingly???
"that will work out well" ... says all canucks fans
I would prefer that they went after Justin Peters.
But if Ward is who Carolina is offering, I'd be okay with it. Wouldn't necessarily love it, but McBackup is a huge risk right now. And the cap goes up next year and their best players are locked in until the year after that... Long enough for them to decide how to move forward.
Some were saying that Bob should/could have gotten 7 himself. 11.9 for two is a bargain!
The Edmonton Oilers have agreed to retain half of Devan Dubnyk's remaining salary as part of their trade with Nashville.
Duthie was saying the end game for the Coilers is indeed edmonton boy Cam Ward ... offseason possibly draft day move coming ... hopefully for the first overall pick
that Devan Dubnyk lasted in the Oilers system for 8 years kinda puts things in persepctive ... 8 years of "development"
