Looks like it will be a boring trade deadline for the Tigers. The few guys who might have brought some decent prospects (Fulmer, Greene, Castellanos) have either gotten hurt or started slumping of late. Might get a bag of baseballs for Alex Wilson or Mike Fiers, but that's about it.

Yes, I thought of him after I posted. As you say, his value to a contending team is higher than his value to the Tigers in terms of return for a trade. Superior fielding shortstops with minimal power at the plate aren't all that rare.

According to the Detroit News Mike Gerber ... apparently they are worried about defense. Gerber is hitting .214 with 94 K's.
