How long before we see Castellanos in LF? Dirks' leash can't be much longer...

If Nick had gotten off to a hot start, I think he would have already been called up. He has hit better lately and if he continues, I would expect him to be called up by the end of May.

Verlander hasn't shown the Verlander of old - yet. Bullpen has a pungent odor. Lineup is in a hit or miss kind of state currently. Add it all up....A .500 ballclub.

JVs ERA was 2.13 coming into today with more K's than innings.

JV's velocity is down,his WHIP is up. I know he had some thumb problems today....but his pitch counts are not letting him reach into the 8th and 9th innings. Nothing to worry about yet. He hasn't often been strong in April. I will feel better when I see him in the 9th inning and throwing 98+

JV would have finished the game if not for broken skin/blister. had only 96 pitches through 7 giving up a single ER. Hard to really be that concerned with an ERA under 2.

Phil Coke on the other hand on pace for 25 losses out of the pen. Coke has 2 losses (sunday and today) while Smyly in that time hasn't thrown a pitch. Unless they are planning for Smyly to start on Sunday then he should have gotten some time in.

Was leyland asleep in the dugout while coke was walking the royals around the bases. Geeez. JV has been getting no run support...i think they scored 7 in one start and pretty much nuthin in the other games. Not that dirks is great, but why was DK playing today? They had monday AND tuesday off.....nobody should be getting days off for the rest of the week unless its avila. Im not a DK hater but why is he on the team instead of berry? Berry can hit just as well as DK, but faster....and who cares about getting AB's....berry isnt a young hot prospect....the best he will ever be is a bench player who fills in time to time or for injury....we need a guy late to pinch run and steal....anyone else see how the royals MANUFACTURE runs......is smyly hurt?

Yeah wingedwheel.....they were like....jim leyland was very happy last night now that his closer is back.....then they went on to say how its great that this team has found their missing piece...the closer......too funny....its one game.....dont get me wrong.....i like me some rod and mario.....they are homers, but they dont over do it.....unlike hawk harrelson, who i despise living in chicago having to listen to him when they play the tigers.....i hate that blackout BS on MLB package. Shouldnt be forced to watch our hometowns broadcast.

I just type alot of bs quickly, makes that post number rise fast.......I got Denard going to seattle late 2nd, but it was a homer pick......In reality I still think he will go before the 3rd is over though.

Besides the pen, lets not overlook left field(Dirks .167/Kelly .095), catcher (Avila .177) and DH (Martinez .187). As Captain Mumbles would counter "its a long season". More fun to come this weekend with the Braves in town.

I only knew his ERA because I have him in a fantasy league. (He threw 95 in the first inning, I saw that in the little grey box on the top left of my TeeVee)I do know that Phil Coke sucks no matter what his ERA is. Smyly can't go to the rotation if Coke and Downs are our only lefties in the pen.

Did anyone pick Geno Smith to go in the first round? I heard that some guy picked him to be the #2 pick overall.

Schilling was overshadowed in AZ by Randy Johnson. Both great pitchers...but once they step off the mound....they seem to have problems dealing with the rest of the world. Looking back - I am surprised that those two egos could fit on one team.

He has to know. If not, I'm sure the good people of Rhode Island will help persuade him. I have heard people say stupid things but never with the conviction of this idiot. The best thing I can say about him is he is consistent.
