CB is behind the plate game Two, or so I hear. Hopefully JV can keep his composure. Buckner is horrible!

Leyland sets the rotation.

Scherzer (Cy Young) then verlander (former Cy Young and MVP)
and Sanchez pitching game 3. (ERA leader)

if the bats wake up even a little. we take care of the As quick and easy

Scherzer earned the right to pitch game 1. best part of this set up .Sanchez pitches game 3 AT HOME

iam surprised Leyland got it right and didn't screw it up

Not giving a shit and getting no-hit isn't the same thing.. But I wouldn't think you would have the mental capacity to know the difference.. How about you go back to your igloo..

Oh good, we have someone here to make rude, unnecessary comments. Thought iffy was gone. We are all tigers fans.

So youve moved from Internet tough guy to Internet intellectual. Nice. This anonymous World Wide Web thing is pretty convienant. (Saliency? Really?)

Yeah he found a thesaurus. If i was his professor (if he even went to uni) i would put a gun to my head if i had to read his papers. Jalopy falls into the category of pretentious know it all. He clearly feels the need to try to impress people at sportshoopla and usually argues about the most pointless, inane crap. Otherwise he's cool.

People that brush off the marlins no no should be ashamed tho. Congrats to alvarez and the marlins. A no hitter is a no hitter, unless you pair it with five or more walks, then it dilutes the impressiveness. He still pitched against professonal hitters and i promise you they didnt want to be no hit. Give credit where its due but at the same time realize it doesnt impact anything for the tigers. Actually surprised aaron didnt have a mild heart attack over it. Good on you aaron

Read today if Jhonny is on the roster he would be used as a PH and start in LF against lefties. ....wouldn't u want him in the lineup all the time? Or is Dirks D that much better?

I have to admit, other than networking value, university life was the biggest waste of time for me. The learning curve was pretty flat. Impressing people doesn't have any value in, at least anonymously. I simply comment to express an opinion. I usually only do so when my opinion contradicts the general consensus. The fact that some simpletons take people to task with personal slights for having an opposing opinion is beyond my scope of caring. Right now, I am focused on learning if the Oakland Coliseum is as big of a dump as is rumored.

That takes focus and learning? I think if you just watched one home game you would have your answer. Maybe your thesis could have revolved around it.

Im cool with this thread but either way works

Usually with the Red Wings I do up a cool playoff OP, for example: http://www.sportshoopla.com/forums/...225-2-anaheim-vs-7-detroit-series-thread.html

However, this is an ongoing thread (not sure how it works) and I feel a little like a stranger here since the majority of Tigers posters on SportsHoopla came from somewhere other than the ESPN robust message boards.

It's mainly all your guys' call. I'm neutral on the whole thing, though obviously I like doing up threads. :D It's not gonna break my heart if everyone prefers to finish this thread for 2013.

Well, we really don't know much about Peralta's defense, so difficult to answer that one. But, given that Dirks does a pretty solid job tracking the ball and could play CF in a pinch, I think it's safe to say that Dirks is a much better defender.

Dirks' hitting got better as the season progressed. Still not on Peralta's level, though. I really think that long-term Dirks would make a terrific 4th OF on a roster given that he can play any of the OF positions and has enough offense and enough hustle to contribute something off the bench and as a spot starter.

Probably won't know what outweighs what between Peralta's edge with bat and Dirks edge with glove until we get a better feel for how Peralta looks in LF. I remember when Carlos Guillen moved out there; it was a total disaster. He looked lost and had no clue how to read the ball off the bat.

Oakland only has one LH SP, Tommy Milone. I have only seen the announced SP's for games 1-3, and none is Milone. So he's either starting Game 4 or we won't see him starting. If the Tigers do the straight platoon, it looks like we'll see plenty of Dirks and little of Peralta.

Ah, Oakland Coliseum, Oct. 8, 1972. The infamous Bert Campaneris thrown bat at Tiger pitcher Larrin LaGrow. I was there and can report we escaped the right centerfield stands only through the grace of God. Tigers were losing Game 2 of the ALCS and LaGrow plunked Campy on the ankle in the 7th. Campy didn't like being hit, so he "threw" his bat at LaGrow's head. Then all HELL broke out. On the field, Billy Martin came after Campy like an Atlas rocket (Willie Horton was trying to catch Billy, but couldn't) and the Oakland fans threw all forms of shit on us. We immediately left that dump, never to return.
Ticket price for a day of fun $3.
