Holland has always said that he won't pay a stay at home defenseman more than a mill or a mill and a half per season. Ericsson had 15 points last season. While I guess technically he's not a "stay at home defenseman", due to the fact that he is constantly lost and can't find his way home, he's definitely not an offensive defenseman.

I really really really don't understand this. Not at all. I guess Babcock and Holland see some sort of magical upside that's going to rear it's glorious head at the fresh young age of 27.

I guess they are not paying him for what he's done, but for what he could do. He has talent, now he has money ... time to produce!! If Holland believes in him, who am I to question. I'd rather pay him 3 million then Jagr 3.3 million.
