Holland has always said that he won't pay a stay at home defenseman more than a mill or a mill and a half per season. Ericsson had 15 points last season. While I guess technically he's not a "stay at home defenseman", due to the fact that he is constantly lost and can't find his way home, he's definitely not an offensive defenseman.

I really really really don't understand this. Not at all. I guess Babcock and Holland see some sort of magical upside that's going to rear it's glorious head at the fresh young age of 27.

Ericsson got what? That's a misprint right? Over 3 mill per for a 6th defenseman? I know Ehrhoff signing in Buffalo was a blow, but WOW!! This is almost as bad as the contract Florida gave Kopecky.
