Why would he not just go on IR and retain his salary for 2025? Sounds like they have a backroom deal where they give him a job of some sort.

I love Purdy. But in Manning I see someone like a Steve Young style. I see Purdy more of a Joe Montana style and with our offensive line who has no pass blocking ability outside of Williams and now Puni. Great at zone run blocking for the most part, but horrid pass blocking. With how small Purdy is I am afraid he will not last too long. I am always looking at the long term.
The team is lucky to have you.

Yeah, Manning looks like a legit dude, he’s got more legs than his uncles also, and he’s 6.4 … Definitely gonna go at the top of the draft.. Watching some of his highlights, man…

The numbers you speak of are just a product of modern football that’s pass heavy. Carr is the epitome of “just a guy.”
He had one of the best deep balls last year, and that's throwing bombs to the likes of MVS.

I’m just pointing out I think parting ways with Carr is best for the Saints in the long run, because now they’ll get a high draft pick and likely use it on a franchise QB, and if that QB is good then they’ll be in much better shape. Carr is very average and adequate, he can keep a team afloat so they don’t suck but he’s never going to lead a team on a playoff run.
Well, I mean, Carr was only in one playoff game. Against Joe Burrow.

I think Olave is a #1 receiver as long as he stays healthy, he had over 1000 yards in his first two seasons, injuries derailed him last season and he only played in 8 games. But yeah the Saints could use some help at receiver. I agree the Saints O is coming along and if you guys get a strong franchise QB you guys will be in pretty good shape on O. The D is more of a concern for the Saints IMO, the edge rush is shaky and your best LB in Davis is aging.
Olave is not a number one receiver. He doesn't have the size to be one. He got outplayed by Shaheed until he went down because he couldn't separate. He also has had multiple concussions.

Unless there is something to the Carr/Olave stuff. Still, Saints probably win 10 or 11 games in 2023 with an elite receiver. They almost beat Houston, Jacksonville, and Detroit.

lol well I'm sure the team doesn't want to pay him for sitting on injured reserve. I don't think it's really a player decision at that point. The team was prob. going to be like, "Look dude, you can retire or we'll just cut you and you can seek life elsewhere."

Now if you're retiring, the team still has to pay out any guarantees... so he prob. just said "F it" and decided to leave. He made plenty of money from the Raiders/Saints but he simply wasn't worth the cap the Saints were going to pay him this year or next year... it was like $50M+ each year.. not worth.

The Saints have finally pulled their head out of their ass and decided to reset. Course... Taysom Hills cap hit is still like $20M this year.

Whatever. Let's just pretend the Saints don't exist for another couple years...... oh wait fuck they drafted Brandon Weeden 2.0 this year. Well whatever. It's the Saints. We're back to their dumbass 'WHO DAT' where they mock their own team because nobody cares about them.

I think the Panthers will be better. It seems like Bryce Young started to turn the corner. I also think they have a pretty good head coach. We will see. I think they’re 9-8 and a fringe Wild Card team.
They have the Rams, Bills, Cowboys, Packers, Falcons, and Bucs on the schedule. If you think they beat everyone else including NE in Foxborough, Dolphins, 49ers in SF, Jaguars, twice against the Saints, then maybe. But they have no defense to win all those games.

Perhaps Tyler Weeden will lead them to the promised land... :pound:

nobody thinks the jets are going to beat out buffalo... but miami and the patriots are pretty bad too... Sure, Breece Hall and Garret Wilson had under performing seasons last year, but that was more because Rodgers needed to throw the ball to his Packers last season... it hurt the actual good Jets players...

I would definitely expect Hall to return as a top end RB, and Wilson to return as a top end WR... even with fields... in fact i think Fields makes both players better...

its hard to pinpoint how many wins they SHOULD get this season... but i can easily see them winning 9 or 10 games this year... just remember what their expectations were last pre-season... I am not sure what the under/over is for them yet, but i would bet the over... they actually have good upside too...

now of course, things can easily fall apart as well... definitely a big window of potential outcomes for them... but again... they do play in a very weak division... and they do have the third place schedule(not as good as last place schedule, but should be fine)... things seem to lean in their favour...
Fields couldn't throw to Pickens.

Daniel Jones did get the Giants to the playoffs with an elite RB but I think it would take everything going right for that to happen again. Jones only has had 1 good season out of 6 so...16% chance for the Colts to be good maybe sounds about right.

Titans put together just enough old talent to see if Ward can learn the game. If Sneed can actually get healthy again I kinda like their defense but they were 30th in D last year so even an average defense would likely take a large improvement. They look like the Patriots from last year imo and they went 4-13.

That really does just leave the Jaguars. According to AGL their offense was more banged up than the average team but the defense was bad with its starters. The only thing they're adding on D is Eric Murray at S and he is replacement level imo. They need 1 of their 2 DTs they drafted in 2024 to improve and probably need Travis Hunter as a pro bowl level CB to really put them in discussion to compete with the Texans imo.
The thing is the Colts are a well structured team. They have a good interior. They did win 8 games last year with their QB situation.

I didn't say anything about my team.

But to be fair, Weeden was out of shape.

Oh my bad, you were responding to the Panthers schedule. My fault!

thats not really fair... the steelers were so rigid about winning by defense and DONT HURT THE TEAM philosophy that they never really unleashed Fields... He was playing the safest version of football he could...

Also Wilson and Hall are better talents than anything pittsburgh or even the bears have put on the field for him...

I had Pickens on my fantasy team. I had to bench him and actively scourge FA until Wilson started. Pickens then exploded before he got hurt. Though before Nix showed anything, I was able to pick up Sutton who was dropped before a Bucs game I knew SP was gonna unleash his offense on against a bad secondary.
