We left a heck of a lot of points on the field ..Kubiak knew we were on Defensively and pulled the plug on Oz ..

OZ seemed to have way less juice on the football today ? or was he just under throwing it .. something looked way different today ?

I think the problem for Oz is he was having to throw off his back foot a lot more in this one. That was probably our worst OL work we have seen since Oz came in as the starter. I was very disappointed in our pass protection in this one because not like the Chargers are some great pass rushing team. Throw in then the run blocking was very inconsistent.

Honestly it just looked like our offense was very flat in this one. I didn't see that same fire that we saw last week. Which honestly should be a bit expected considering the emotional toll of the last game. Thankfully we didn't go out and lay a huge stinker like the Patriots and still found a way to win.

For me the best part about this game was it really showed just the depth of our defense. I mean we were missing Ward, Ware, Sly, Trevathan went out, Talib got banged up yet our defense went and played maybe its 2nd best game only behind the Green Bay game. Malik and Von played out of their minds in this one. Shane Ray really seems to be finding his stride. To me all this playing time for our back ups will only mean greater things when the starters come back and we can rotate like we did earlier in the year.

Other than the OL probably the worst part of our team was our Special Teams who were anything but special. I honestly would not be surprised if Elway brought in some punting competition this week and that Colquitt could be cut by Wednesday. I mean these last few games he has been down right terrible. He seems to have that 1 amazing punt a game that makes you think "Well maybe he can get it together" but then he follows it up with one of the worst punts of the year. What is going on with this guy? McManus as well just seems to have lost a little of his mojo. That 52 yarder while being a long kick was in perfect weather conditions. Those are the ones he was drilling right down the middle. To me this unit needs a huge butt chewing this week and inform them produce or leave.

I`m kinda glad I missed my first Bronco game of the year. Aside from the accolades for the D, the rest of the effort screams "frustration" . I`am sure Cd is happy I missed it as well. Pretty sure I would be throwing Mathis to the wolves and everyone else on line probably :) I have issues ok!!! :)

Also injury updates

CJ Anderson--The team took him out of the game more as a precaution. He could have kept playing if the game was closer but the coaches didn't see any reason to risk further injury in a game they had in hand. He didn't even have a limp after the game.

Vernon Davis--He did have a concussion but it didn't sound like it was more than a minor concussion. He might miss one game but I think that would maybe be more of a precaution. I actually expect him back this Sunday.

Danny Trevathan--Another minor concussion. He was tweeting fans pretty much as soon as the game was over that he is fine.

Vasquez--He was active for the game and was an emergency fill in if needed. Thankfully team didn't need him so he was able to get a week of rest. Should be back as the starter this week is my guess.

I haven't heard any updates on the players that missed this past week.

This week I definitely would not blame you. They had moments where they looked really good. San Diego brought the house on one play and the OL held really well picking up everyone. Then other times Osweiler seemed to be getting hit every time he dropped back. Honestly I could see this being why they went a little more conservative in wanting to protect Osweiler from taking so many huge hits. I mean the game was in hand so no reason to risk him. Run Blocking they really did struggle to get any kind of push. We looked like we did when Manning was in with our guys getting pushed and our RB's taking hits in the backfield. I'm going to give them this week because of how good they have looked the past couple of weeks especially run blocking but definitely need to see these guys step up if we stand any chance at the 1-seed.

I thought the Broncos were very conservative on offense and that Kubiak knew that Denver's D wasn't going to blow that game if they scored near 20 points. Big win last week and the offense looked sluggish as well and lets remember it has only been 3 starts for Oz. Good to see Rivers get smacked around.
Bingo. That first drive was a thing of beauty. Creative and efficient. After that, the Broncos played it extremely conservatively. I think that was a conscious decision based on the way the Chargers offense was going and the way the injuries were starting to pile up. I think once the Broncos got that 2 touchdown lead they really shut it down, and tried to run clock and get out of there as quickly as they could.

Yeah it would be hard to think there wasn`t a little let down after big win last week. Seems it hit the Offense somewhat more and not the D though. Great road win. Even with the injuries with our D, the depth we have there should give Raiders trouble but our offense better score more points than they garnished vs SD. Carr and the boys can be dangerous and that 40 yr old dude can be major pain in the ass as well :)

I think if we needed kubiak would of scored more points ..when Oz got picked off he just said to hell with that and decided we don't need points we just need to play field position and play smart football .. The other side was also on to us and was really crowding the run so ..

I thought the run blocking did exceptionally well given that in the 2nd half we ran it about 85% of the time. The Chargers could tell we were in milk the clock mode so it was easier for them to stop the run knowing it was coming. Given that we were still averaging about 3-4 yards per carry when SD was ready for the run every play I attribute that to the run blocking.

I agree to a point. I guess to me I just saw too many plays where they were playing on our side of the LOS. We seemed to either have a great run play or one that went for negative yards. I get that they knew what we were trying to do but this was possibly the worst run defense in the NFL so I guess I just expected even with them knowing it was coming for us to just down right dominate. I guess I just didn't see them finishing guys off like we did against NE.

The game played out like Kubiak decide he wanted it to play out after the Oz Pick .

I think I saw this stat somewhere yesterday...If I'm wrong somebody correct it. Philip Rivers started out his career going 9-2 against the Broncos. Since then the record against the Broncos has now reached 10-10 so only 1 win and 8 losses in the last 9 games against the Broncos.

By looking at stats, CJ 7 carries 42 yrds right before half looked promising. Then I saw one run was 22 yds so that avg ( 6.0 per carry ), not so impressive at first glance. Looked bad rest of game and to Cd point, if a bad run defense stops you from moving chains on the ground, then your not doing your job of wearing them down. Denver should have run all over that D. No excuses except lack of effort or terrible execution by the whole offense. From what I've been hearing from most is,the offense had the " someone slipped a valium in our Gatorade" syndrome .

But CJ is the bruiser who can turn those 3.5 yard runs in the first half into 15 yard runs at the end of the game or OT when the defense is worn down.

Had a great time at the game on Sunday. The good luck charm came through, again. And once again, it was a Bronco party post-game at Qualcomm Stadium.

I'll just leave this here....

The thing is though, that is the MO of the Chargers D. They will play half of the time like they are all world and then the other half of the time like they are a bunch of pick up players. It is one of the major complaints of the Chargers fans that are still here in Sandy Eggo.

That is a great picture! Was it really something like 60-70% Bronco fans at the game?

Thanks cd, I was stoked when I saw the sign. Had to get a pic. When I took it, I didn't even notice the sad Charger fan, lol. When I looked at the pic afterward I laughed. That made the pic so much better.

I figured it was about 50-60% Bronco fans, but it definitely could have been 70%.
