If Dallas is supposedly so against paying a RB big money, why would Peterson even be on their radar? He wont come cheap, and could also cost a draft pick or 2 to acquire. I don't see it.

Filed to ESPN: DeMarco Murray, en route now to Philly, is expected to sign with Eagles, per source.

I'm scared to see the numbers and also scared to lose Mathews. This is the first move I've really disagreed with Chip. Slight disagreement on Maxwell, but can live with it. This move I don't like, unless its at or around the reported Cowboys offer of 4yr 16mil.

If the Eagles sign DeMarco and don't sign Ryan Mathews, that won't hurt them very much with the cap

Yep, we don't need both. If we sign Murray for $6M a year, then don't sign Mathews, that would be great. Draft a rookie, then we have our 4 RBs. Give Murray closer to 300 carries and his durability will be improved/preserved.

I think we'd probably draft a WR if we keep the pick, but a RB wouldn't be bad either

Kelly also cancelled his trip to Oregon's pro day

Uhh oh. Big smoke screen. Soon it will come out that the Eagles really like Gregory/Fowler/Cooper/Williams and are trading up for them. Then Chip will make the trade on draft day and all of a sudden Sam will be a part of it and then he takes Mariota. The horror!:gaah:

The Matthew's contract look like reasonable #2 back money, so its not horrible if the Eagle sign him. But from Matthews perspective, he is probably better off fielding a few more offers at this point. He won't see the end of that contract if he isn't playing much.

I love this. Bring on Murray! I talked to a Cowboys fan last night who said he is scared of a backfield with Murray sproles and Mathews lol

In the 1st, yep. I was thinking 3rd or 5th for a RB. It sure would have been nice to have our 2nd and 4th.

they don't need mathews, but it would be insane with both. with the much improved defense, i'd go as far as to call the eagles a respectable favorite to win the superbowl. if healthy, and combined with sproles, they could be well rested every game.. smashing the line and setting up the pass. it would even free up sproles more so for the passing game, with less concern about an injury or fatigue.

We still have the 4th Howie got us for Bryce Brown. Thanks Buffalo.

The pass receiving skills of all these backs is very impressive. Assuming no new WRs, I could imagine making Huff/Matthews your outside guys, and have the slot be manned by Ertz/Sproles. Ertz gives you the big body matchup, Sproles give you the quick guy. Kind of like how NE used Hernandez and Welker. Obviously, you can use Sproles in the backfield in a pinch, but I think in this depth chart he is a slot WR.

DeMarco Murray expected to join Eagles (@AdamSchefter)

Among F/A RBs, Murray 2nd in yds/rush in shotgun last 2 seasons (1: Ryan Mathews)

It all makes sense now...

Get them both! Hopefully Mathews wants to be a part of a beastly 3,000 yard backfield!
