He's right handed, a legitimate MLB bat, and fills an outfield hole while only making $600K for the rest of the season. MLBTR says the O's are willing to move him.

This could be a good option for us. He's hitting .286 in limited playing time this season.

I wouldn't mind him, because he falls into the 'we have nothing to lose' category, but I wouldn't want him in the field. He is a butcher from what I remember. DH would be his bets defensive position.

Delmon Young should be had for pennies on the dollar, but I don't trust the Mariners FO to land Young for pennies on the dollar. He is an interesting option though, but hopefully the Mariners aim bigger than that.

Another option may be one that was rumored a while ago: Either Kemp or Ethier, since now the Dodgers have not 4, but 5 outfielders with Scott Van Slyke doing damage lately. Either one would probably be more expensive than Young, Kemp for sure, but I think they have more upside as well.

I wonder what the M's would have to give up for Kemp or Ethier.

I brought up a desire for Kemp a few months back as long as LA took on part of the salary. If that deal would work its way up, the outfield would look somewhat respectable with him in left, assuming Jones progresses with more experience and Saunders continues hitting at his .280 clip.

Not entirely sure what the Dodgers are looking for but I would think that a deal would include Franklin, Ackley and either Walker or Paxton.

Utterly ridiculous, then.

I'm just guessing on that. I don't think I would be on board with that trade either. Too much for someone that is clearly on the decline.

We're talking about Jack Z here. He'd probably trade Kuma, Zunino, Walker and Peterson all while picking up Kemp's contract.

During the offseason I expressed strong interest in the Mariners trading for Kemp (Under the assumption that the Dodgers ate a huge part of his contract), but now I'm a lot more hesitant.

Kemp's lack of effort defensively and his .254/.319/.430 line make you seriously wonder if he has given up and doesn't really care anymore. Shit, Kemp has a -1.6 dWAR in only 55 games, that is incredibad.

I wouldn't give up much for Kemp. He has a world of talent, but doesn't seem to care anymore and I don't have faith in the Mariners ability to bring him back to life.

Nick Franklin for Marlon Byrd.
Philly is going to trade Chase Utley at the deadline, from what I keep hearing. Their second basemen prospects at AAA and AA all suck. This is a good trade for them.

Byrd wouldn't just be a half-season mercenary for the Mariners. He is also signed for 2015 at a very reasonable $8 million and has an $8 million option on 2016 that kicks in if he gets 600 PAs in 2015. He rakes left-handed pitching and holds his own against right handers.

That one wouldn't be bad at all, it's a bitch Franklin was just tossed to the side, but you don't want him ending like Morrow did when they wouldn't pitch him, there heads get screwed with and they don't want to do squat for the team....
