It really is incredible that he's holding the same post all these years later. It's not that the Lakers offer wasn't good enough; He just doesn't want to be manipulated by the Lakers like he was the last time, nor does he want his star player to wind up with the Lakers.

I say...Good for you, Mr. Demps. (For you don't got a whole lot to lose)

Demps is going to need to get a haul for Davis in order to save his job. He’s been really terrible as their gm and likely should be in the hot seat. He should be on the phone right now woth the Knicks to try to get as many draft picks as possible for him. Them and the Clippers.

Hmm. I think he's tried to improve the team but has been snakebit by injuries. Boogie blowing out his achilles really screwed him good.

But, to your point, draft picks for 2023 just don't do anything for Demps. He'll be long gone by then if they don't get a couple of big pieces.

Which is why a lottery pick this year is better for him than 2 future 1st round picks or even 3.

Demps will be in a much better position in July than right now where he either takes the Lakers pupu platter or they have to roll the dice with a team like the Clippers or Knicks especially considering that a trade today would make the Clips or Knicks much better and their draft pick worse.

Knicks are in full on tank mode; doubt their draft slot moves much for the balance of the season. DSJ will suddenly have a mysterious ailment, lol.

I think a lot of moves he's made has wasted draft picks, had some terrible free agent signings and overall been in cap purgatory the entire time they've had AD.

I mean two albatross contracts he signed were Solomon Hill for his god awful deal, but somehow managed to top that by signing Omer Asik to an even worse deal. They traded Buddy Hield and their 2017 first round pick (which could have been Zach Collins, or Donovan Mitchell who went 3 picks later, but mostly that draft was loaded with talent) for Demarcus Cousins, who they ended up not re-signing. They signed Tyreke Evans to a big deal, when it was clear he was a horrible fit next to Jrue Holiday.

Just going back to 2013 the Pelicans have had 1 (ONE!) first round draft pick who ended up being Buddy Hield, who was also traded his rookie year. That's absolutely horrible.

He's been one of the worst GM's in the NBA for a long time. He ruined the franchise really with all of his terrible moves. If he would have just made one or two decent moves, Anthony Davis still wants to be a Pelican and they'd be moving in the right direction.

Before you all keep pounding on Demps.

The first CP3 deal wasn't nearly as bad as people said it was.

Odom, Scola and Martin either were or could've been flipped for firsts.

and he had great foresight on Dragic.

a pre-breakout Dragic and 3 firsts is a pretty reasonable haul.

Especially when Gordon was damaged goods and Aminu's best years came in outside of NO.
