And even then, aren't we looking to improve this team this year since we can't do a f'n thing in FA? We "need" certain positions slotted from teh draft and DT is not one of them. If Suh was in this draft and he fell all the way to 17, I would not take him knowing what we have on our DT depth chart already.

We have zero need for a DT, there is no reason to take one no matter how good they are. Period.

We are not benching Peko no matter what, and Sims is one of the best run stuffing DT in the league that was proven almost immediately after he got hurt and our run defense that was giving up well under 100 yards per game rushing ballooned to loke 140 yards per game.

Yeah, in an ideal world, Suh and Atkins would be ideal, but we need to improve other areas of our team, and DT is not one of them. If we take a defensive tackle, it has to be late rounds project that will probably wind up on practice squad to develop, kinda like what Clinton McDonald was.

Brockers is no Suh, there is no one in this draft like Suh, Suh is not in this draft, and even if he was, we have bigger needs than DT, even if he fell all the way to 17. I suppose we could draft him and trade Peko for another 2nd round pick, but once again, all of this is hypathetical, and WE DO NOT NEED A F'ING DT! Okay, I am good now.

Besides, I think our DT's already do a damn good job of this, but Johnson is inconsistant, and Dunlap is always hurt or he is really lazy, not sure which. We would be better off drafting a DE, than ANY DT.

It is all about NEED to me in this draft right now. Not just draft best available. We have several holes to fill to be more competitive, or least a chance to be, and grabbing a position of luxury is not filling that need to improve in my opinion.

There will be other players available at 17 and 21 that will fill more important needs outside of DT.

If not, I would trade back and then pick up a DT later in the 1st round, if he were the best on the board, but I do have to agree with what Crash is saying: DT depth can be found down the road. No DT is going to grade out so much higher than another player at a position that the Bengals need to fill that they have to take him if he falls.

That's the sort of mentality that will lead to a bad roster..... The good teams don't reach for needs - They fill those holes in free agency. Outside of a select few positions (QB for example), you stick with your grades. Green Bay is a good example of how you should draft.

I think what he's saying that at this point in the draft the grades are going to be very similar between a "want" player and a "need" player.

If that's the case...the need should be taken over the want.

Great teams always draft best player available. Bengals have done well with this lately, as somebody usually drops. There's talk of Gilmore going in the top 10, so if he's there, I think we take him. Floyd or Decastro would be great as well. Pass rusher or MLB could happen.

We have so many needs that whoever falls should be taken. There's a lot of possibilites this year, with two first rounders.
