As bad as we are on defense, let's wipe the slate clean and start over on that side of the ball which includes relieving Barry of his duties. No way we retain him for one more season, no way!!!

i think he should get one more year and that is because of my 3 year rule . however i am not jumping off a bridge if we let him go

i wonder if we should go with a base 4-3 as well with a new coordinator . i was against it for awhile but not so much now

Great thinks mind alike.

With Baker and RK on one side, and Smith/Murphy/ who ever on the other side, we would be looking for another inside D-lineman. But i think this is easier to find than a tru NT which we have been searching for the past 7 years. Tht leaves Compton at MLB, I also think finding OLBs for a 4-3 might be less of a challenge.

a de rotaion of RK smith , TM would be a good start and you have baker in the middle . a young ionman as a young rotation guy a young lanier asa rotaional de and you are looking for a young DT to start and he doesnt have to be overly big either . compton /foster in the middle and you see what garvin or moody or whoever can do at olb

you move breeland to safety , cravens to safety draft a safety , a cb move fuller to the outside with dunbar , you draft a MLB maybe an OLB and you move forward

blackman and hall can stick around to give the young guys time to get acquainted with the NFL

True but I assume at a minimum he controls the lineup on D. At a minimum he should have benched several of his safeties. I did a double take when I saw Toler blatantly facemask a Panther & still get thrown away like a rag doll - pathetic. Heck - Barry should have went into "Remember the Titans" mode & started using offensive players in the secondary - could not have done worse.

Sorry for the late response, but I'm not here everyday. OK, I don't disagree with you that he controls the lineup, however here are his choices, Slug #1...vs. Slug#2...vs. Slug#3. It is job security suicide to not field your best players. Less so when your best players are either currently playing elsewhere or occupying space in the NCAAF. BTW: there would have been a team wide mutiny against a move to employ offensive players on the defensive side of the ball. A move like that, which he could not do unilaterally, would have led to an immediate pink slip and an even greater outpouring of calls for his dismissal.

Guys, even converting to a base 4-3 will require a near overhaul of the front seven. I see all of them as either camp cuts or second rotation guys. Yes that includes Baker, RK and TM, all IMHO second rotation guys. I know that RK is a pro-bowler, but I consider that a reflection of weak defensive play league wide. Maybe I'm reflecting upon a different time frame in which the best competition a team faced was against one another in practice. I'm not looking for the '85 Bears, but how about us looking for this era's versions of Dexter, Mann and Co. types? So tired of the quest for "nice" guys on this team. Humans make mistakes, OK, I get it when they are glaring or affect his play, but what about guys who show that sort of humanity and can be helped in correcting the error of their ways? We need tough guys, men with an edge, on the defensive side of the ball, they are out there, but we are going to have to become a bit more willing to sign them.

I may agree in a sense you give the HC the 3 year rule however, position coaches change all the time. Barry is nothing more than an energetic LB coach heading up the defense. Again, I think Manufsky will be given consideration for the DC job next year as well as a few others outside the organization. That side of the ball requires a overhaul.

Lets be honest guys.

If we win this week, odds are the primary targets will have new homes before we get a shot at even thinking about it. BArry gets another year unless we get totally blown out by the Giants backups this week.

Like I said, I dont expect Bradley or Rex to be available past Jan 6th. So if we win this week and make the playoffs, I dont expect Barry to get fired. If we lose, then yea I expect we will at least consider guys like Bradley, the Ryan Brothers and a few others that might shake loose. But if we make the playoffs, all the quality candidates will be off the market by the time we are in a position to consider a change.
