IMO, that statement about the pre season defense is, when they show nothing, and make no plays, it appears they start the season that way. I've noticed that more so with the offense, so a good showing on both sides would be great, although not a tell all, be all

Last year they were , and we lost good d/line depth , lb play is still a question , and our secondary has communication issues and our DC is 2-3 games begins seeing changes that need to be made

Let's see Chase Young coming off a poor year and an acl tear with crappy depth behind him and Sweat the LB's consist of Davis who we all hope can turn it around in a better position and Holcomb who is good but not great and the depth falls off tremendously and for the CB spot Jackson not living up to his signing and Juste didn't play because of concussions and the depth there is what Elder and Johnson

I suspect JDR will employ more man coverage with immediate pressure a bit more often this year. In turn we will force more TO's. He has to mix up his coverages because sitting in zone 85% of the time will keep your defense on the field.

i agree. He relied on his front 4 way too much last year to get pressure.

did he have a choice ? the LB corp isnt a blitzing outfit on this team

that being said JDR was way too slow in making needed changes in schemes and deployment of players

add to it the d/line got weaker

Could of always brought safety and cb blitzes. Yes he had a choice to be an attacking defense. He waited to long on how to use Collins. He can do with Butler on what he did with Collins last year.

no arguments. It got better as the year went on. Considering the QB's we are playing this year, we should be better stat wise.

yeah but thats fools gold , if we are truly better we should do it vs the best . now i will take it for this year but i want a real good football team not the rollercoaster

Most NFL teams are rollercoasters that is why there are different teams in the NFL playoffs every year. If Cincy can do it so can we. Im not saying we can go to the Super Bowl, but we can get to the playoffs. Certainly a possibility.

I would like to see them bring in a vet ILB and use Jamin Davis like the girls use Parsons. Move him all over...

The difference with Chiefs and Pats is they have 2 of the most respected coaching minds in football. The philosophy is also different than in WASH. Notice how the Chiefs use the pass to set up the run with Mahomes. The Pats use similar concepts in their offense. There is Bellicheck Reid and everyone else.
