I am stating that defensive statistics doesn’t always tell the complete story. There is an implication in what I said that TH plays in a system that allows him to attack more than Josh Sweat.

There's a couple implications in what you said.

I won’t be disappointed if we get TH and understand if we do. For me, it is just far less impressive to get statistics on a horrible defense than it is to be really good on a great defense.

There's a different way to view that as well.

Is the overall defense so bad. That the offense can easily scheme away from the one aspect the offense fears. Yet he still makes plays.

Is the overall defense so good they make a player better than they actually are.

And FTR. I can't be mad whichever way they go. Not that it would make any difference if I did.

In addition to paying him as well

Sure.a proven player would cost more money than a 2nd rd draft pk. But would you rather have a proven vet who's showing himself f to be worth the price paid - A Luvu or Wagner.

Or a rookie you're paying cheaply, but doesn't bust a grape - Stick figure or Jamin Davis.

Bottom line is While I'm sure it's happened a time or two, hitting HUGE in the draft, think that year the 9ers drafted Ronnie Lott. They had something like 3 rookies starting in the secondary. The draft, FA, trades. It's all a crap shoot. All we can do is hope for the best n be giddy if it works out n butt hurt If it doesnt.

I will take the successful draft pick…option C

gkekoa, in hindsight, I think we should add Khalil Mack to the DE choice list. The rumor is the Commanders are showing interest. He is an all around type of player. A 1 year contract could work, even at his age.

MG is an all around player but will probably not be avail until after June 1st, maybe Sept or Oct. if he has to hold out. I don't think I would wait for him, maybe later.

TH It's well documented. He doesn't stop the run well. He would be a high priced pass rush specialist that would even cost draft capital. Remember the opening play vs the Eagles in the playoffs. He can't stop the maulers. If you are playing with a big lead, maybe but the Skins were usually in close games last year.

Sweat. I don't know if he could stop the Oline of the Eagles on that play and other run plays but I like his chances better. He would cost a lot less than TH. He's a good all-around player. He would be a less expensive upgrade at the DE position.

I am on Sweat’s side personally.

I’m not sure why we would want to take draft choices out of AP’s hands, personally.

A fifth for a motivated Deebo is well enough, but signing an older Dlineman to a monster deal affer gutting a draft to get them seems like a Bruce Allen move.

As the kids day these days, “let AP cook.”

the point is i dont want to give up a resource and also have to pay the guy if i only need to be patient and simply sign the guy when he gets released . then i get 2 players instead of one

that draft pick could be a daniels just as easily

Sure, that would be w/o question the preferred route. That wasn't an option though in the scenario that G laid out.

2 of the options required a trade garret and TH , while sweat was a simple signing
My choice was sweat because we didn’t have to give up resources and pay
