OK, so we are 1-2 and facing a short week. But there are some points of encouragement to take out of this game and the state of the team at the moment.

1. The offense and the tam as a whole works. Yesterday should have showed that there isnt a team that we cant compete with considering the Eagles and Chip Kelly are supposed to be one of the top ten teams in the NFL right now. And they got by on the Skin of their teeth at home against us.

2. Our Qb situation remains now better than it has been in over 20 years at this point. Kirk is showing that he can be a capable starter in the NFL, and I get the feeling we still have not seen the last of RG3 at this point. Some one is going to get traded, and i think we get decent compensation for one of these guys next off season.

3. Despite being 1-2 we currently rank top ten in offense and defense. When was the last time we could say that about the Skins.

Now for the down side of things.

1. Special Teams is still a hot mess.

2. Too many injuries on the defense for it to only be week three.

3. The NFL has effectively castrated Meriweather. He is now too busy thinking about how he should tackle someone instead of just tackling them. The return TD by the Eagles is a prime example, he actually pulled up. Not sure how or if they can make him into an effective player if he has to play exactly opposite to his instincts.

As for this weeks game, I see us playing hard, showing some good things, but falling short again.

Good analysis. Not really sure what you do about injuries. I would add that the secondary is a major concern. The pass rush is going to have to step it up to make up for them. They did a pretty good job in the latter stages of the game but need to step it up starting in the 1st quarter.

I have not seen this many exceptional skill position players on the Redskins in a very long time.

Finally - I becoming increasingly angry with the refs in the NFL. They have been just outright awful during all of the Redskins games (possibly in many other games). They should be embarrassed (granted part of this is a byproduct of the freaking NFL changing the rules every 5 minutes). They totally blew the Baker call. At the time Foles was a defender and was within a few yards of the play. However - I know better and am waiting for the day when QBs wear flags and nobody will ever be allowed to tackle them.

The main thing that we learned is that KC is the QB of this team. He know Grudens offense and its only his 5th NFL start. I look forward to putting about another 30 points on the Giants Thursday night.

Dean, you are too quick to crown players King and also too quick to throw them under the bus IMO.

What We saw was that KC is the best QB for skins RIGHT NOW, no argument. He had a great game, but came up short in the last series. Gotta win those moments on that stage.

Until you have more games to properly judge the body of work, nothing at all has been 'decided'. We will know what we have in KC after we see him in 6-7 games. The good thing is he has a clear shot at making a case for being this teams QB. Time will tell. Not the 1-3/4 game sample we've seen so far this year.

Cali if Rg3 did what Kirk did yesterday everyone will be going crazy on how great he is going to be. Kirk is the Qb of this team. Now and for the future. If the guy averages 30 points a game are you really going to put RG3 in? lol

Even though we didn't win it hasn't nothing to do with KC's performance. He has proved in 2 regular season games and the preseason the he is the right QB for this team. When are the Skins fans going to realize this? What if he puts 30 up on Seattle? Will that get everyone on board. I was on board last year. lol.

Dean, everyone, including me is crazy happy about what KC did yesterday. That doesn't make this a large enough sample size. And I could care less about stats if they don't translate to a win. Regardless of whether it's Griff or KC. I'll critique them both on areas they can do better.

I'm a fan of this team and winning, not a specific QB.

Im not so sure I agree with you about KC's performance having nothing to do with the loss. He played great for 3 1/2 Qtrs. But his last couple of series, he got very tight. Missed quite a few receivers, including 3 in a row on the last drive. We had a short field and Phillys defense was tired. I'm not blaming the loss on KC, but, as others said about RG3 in the Houston game, he didn't do enough to win. I'll mark it up to a learning experience, but it is a concern that needs to be monitored to see if it is a trend (I call in Romo's disease).

I like romoitis even better. Isn't that when your vision gets blurred, your mind gets confused and your passing arm gets shorter??

dean , i like KC . i really do but the fact is he is 1-4 in career starts

to proclaim him a loser or a winner at this point is premature as it is with all your proclamations

let the guy develop and stop labeling him :suds:

We had over 500 total yards yesterday and there are still doubts? lol When has rg3 done this? Its funny how the Giants destroyed the Texans yesterday. My point is if Rg3 did this the media, fans, and analysts would be anointed him the next great Qb. Cousins does it and there is no reaction what so ever. If KC won the Eagles game does it change your mind on he is the guy for the future?

Dean, the answer to that question is yes. If he would have drove us to the winning TD or a FG, it would make a difference. All the stats in the world does not make wins. We had a lead and gave it back because we did not compensate for the changes Philly made on Defense. One big pass play and one good drive out of 8 possessions in the second half was not good.

I am not saying that he is not the one to lead this team, but I really thought that RG3 was making progress with how he looked in the Jacksonville game. As most analyst feel is that RG3 has more upside then KC if he meets his potential. We will know by the bye week were KC stands and what will be expected from RG3.

yeah kirk was so good he looked like tony romo out there. just kidding im a big kirk fan. and yes if rg3 threw for 500 yards from the pocket id be impressed as hell. if kirk ran for 80 yards id also be impressed as hell. right now kirk looks like the qb of our future, i just hope he is more clutch than he was on sunday.

Man O Man this CSI stuff is driving me nuts!!!!! How come ya'll keep saying he is 1-4 as a starter and forgetting he was the winning QB against Jacksonville and Baltimore two years ago.

 Just teasing dad but the 1-4 stat doesn't tell the entire story. Two games this year Cousins started out hot and cooled off some in the 2nd half. The question is why? Is it coaching or is it Cousins? As my friend Cali said we haven't a big enough sample size to make a judgement yet but I would be mostly happy with 427 yards passing, 3 TDs, 1 Int and 34 points.

I found it funny last night watching some of the game watching Suisam and Gano. Of course Forbaths miss was after 18 straight made so I don't think you can rag him too hard.

Agree dad, I was just funning you with the CSI stuff.

Not poopooing the 1-4 as a starter bit, not because it is not true but that is a stat that does not allow for the Jacksonville game or the comeback against Baltimore.

All that said way too early to crown anyone king.

Griffin highest yardage game is 329, he has thrown 4 TDs twice and 3 TDs a couple of times. Cousins played well but I think it is a bit of an over reaction to proclaim him the starter right now. Lets see how things play out over the next few weeks. Even at that I expect Griffin will start when he is healthy again.

I am not about to knock Kirk after that performance. And yes his ability to get ride of the ball quickly was a big factor. But you will never convince me he was under the same pressure that JJ Watt and the Texans delivered in the first game. He had a clean pocket in both of these games and it really played a big part in his success.

Physically, you may be right, but mentally he was under equal pressure as RG3. In Philly, his first start, you can't discount that pressure. He came out and was decisive all night. He did get a bit quick in the 4th QTR, affecting his accuracy. That was all nerves.
