So name me one top player who wasn't an elite junior. I can think of exactly one, and he gets trashed by the tennis "fans" here. How can you possibly deny the correlation?

Not to turn this into the SATs. Most great pros were great juniors, but not all great juniors become great pros.

Middleton Parker III was the greatest junior the world has ever seen, yet how many of you have even ever heard of him?

the number of top 10 juniors players who become top atp players is miniscule

idiots can try to argue against facts all they want, but nobody with a brain will listen to them

First off, I think that John Newcombe, Stefan Edberg, Aaron Krickstein, Richard Gasquet, and Gael Monfils is probably a short list for the greatest juniors ever. All of turned out to be pretty solid pros.

I scored extremely well on the ACT and PSAT. What was said was that it is crazy to draw a correlaion between junior success and pro success. Again, such a correlation definitely exists. So any suggestion that American tennis has no hope when we have the best three 1998 Juniors, one of which is considered the greatest talent in all of junior tennis today, is crazy.

The world is dominated by the 1981-1986 age group (the only notable exception being DelPo). We're far enough along to say that 1987-1989 are flop years, and Milos and Janowicz are close to forcing 1990 in that group as well. This means that there will be a tremendous void when the 1981s to 1986s retire, and the US is in a prime position to seize that void.

Ignore their top ten junior rank, because if they were 18 and ranked #8, I'd agree with you. Instead think of the fact that they are widely considered the three best players born in 1998 at the age of 15-16. And if you go year by year with the people who were considered the top prospect, you'd see that the odds aren't that bad to develop into solid, top ten players.
