Don't forget Tigers offense is a lot better and A's gave away one of their best hitters for lester and Tigers gave away an ok player for Price who is better then lester. Tigers deal is way better.

Ya but the A's always choke vs. the Tigers. It's a given.

OAK: .253/.329/.405, 107 OPS+, 5.0 runs per game (best in MLB)
DET: .277/.330/.434, 108 OPS+, 4.68 runs per game

Tigers have a higher BA and SLG%, but Comerica's a much easier park to hit in than O.co. And yet, the A's are averaging significantly more runs per game.

Cespedes is a good player and I really don't get them trading him, but his bat hasn't been that good. He has a 114 OPS+, which was the 6th best behind Norris, Moss, Jaso, Donaldson, and Crisp. His power and defense will be tough to replace (Cespedes was 2nd among A's position players in WAR at 3.0 (Donaldson first at 5.3), just ahead of Moss (2.9)), but Cespedes had a pretty low OBP.

Tigers offense is probably better going forward, but it's pretty close IMO.

Im still shocked TB gave away Price. Just makes no sense. Unless it was a FU to the AL East. No clue.

And it's pretty obvious there's something wrong with Verlander. His velocity's been declining, his walk rate's climbing, his strikeout rate's taken a steep decline (all the way from 9.0 in 2012 to just 6.6 this year), and he's been giving up way more hits (though the Tigers defense hasn't been of much help).

Are you going to continue to spout nonsense?

Both teams are very good. Both have very good starting rotations. I'd argue the A's have the better bullpen (slightly)... it's really a toss up. Tigers have to worry about winning their division at this point. They're clearly the best team in that division, but KC isn't that far from stealing it away (highly unlikely after this trade). Not to mention, they'll likely be facing the O's in the first round... who have a ton of bats and will probably have home field advantage there.

Let's just blame Kate Upton... o wait

I like it. Not having Smyly coming out of the pen in the postseason is the only downside. But JV or Porcello can fill that role.

great trade, might hurt them in the post season Pen with Smyly gone, but had to fix the Fister mistake. Going to be tough to beat Oakland now anyways.

Hasn't Oaklands offense scored more runs than Detroits?
A's bullpen a ton better than Detroits.
A's starting pitching and Detroits are pretty equal, statistically the A's may have them right now.

A's and Tigers basically just threw down the gauntlet. Some team is going to have to get REALLY hot to knock them off, imo

I find it funnier that the Rays decline Russell but take the pile of garbage they got from this trade.
