IMO, Drake is the better option so long as they can re-sign him relatively inexpensively.

As much as I would trade Slay straight up for Gordon I dont think it is wise. Best thing we could do is try to get a star OLB and then trade Davis for a lesser CB.

I'd sell off a good portion of this fuckin' roster and get as much as possible for anyone minus Stafford, Glasgow, Ragnow, Decker, Hockenson, Golladay, Hand, Flowers, Coleman.

Will Slay be traded by Tuesday?

ESPN's Adam Schefter reports the Lions have received calls on Darius Slay ahead of Tuesday's 4 PM ET trade deadline.

Schefter believes it would take "a lot" to pry him away from Detroit, though obviously the Lions haven't closed the door on that possibility. Rumor is Slay to Tampa Bay and a 2021 1st for Suh could be in the works.

Report: Eagles trying to acquire Slay, Lions price remains ‘very, very high’

Per Mortensen, the Philadelphia Eagles are trying to acquire the Detroit Lions cornerback.

“They’re taking a shot at Darius Slay of the Lions, but the price tag on Slay is very, very high,” Mortensen said on “SportsCenter” Monday.

The Eagles would be a logical landing spot for Slay, as the team currently has one of the worst passing defenses in the league, and they also reportedly offered a first and second-round pick for Jalen Ramsey, but were outbid by the Los Angeles Rams.

Now is the time for the Lions to trade Darius Slay

Making the hard decision
If any team came calling and offered a pair of firsts, similar to what the Rams paid for Ramsey, it would be impossible for the Lions to say no. First-round picks are definitely a gamble, but it would be a gamble to hold on to Slay as well. Cornerbacks do not age particularly well, and paying top dollar for one seems foolish.

Slay is going to be gone from Detroit after 2020 one way or another, so the question becomes how necessary he is over the next season and a half. Given how this season is going, it is clear that the Lions have plenty of needs remaining on the roster and are not true contenders. Now is likely the time they could get the most in return for a player like Slay, despite his recent hamstring problems.

BB_72: No team will part with a 1st and a 2nd round pick for Slay and sure as hell not two 1st round picks due to cost, age and health concerns of these last two years.

Only if BQ is in sellers mode. This team still needs quality starters at outside CB and all three LB spots. I'll be patient with Tavai but no longer with Davis or Jones and JRM is highly suspect at run defense and mediocre at pass coverage. DL needs a run stuffing NT/NG and it isn't A' Shawn alone. WR will be a major need next year also and another OT that can battle it out with Decker to see who plays LT and RT.

Sell, Sell, Sell. Now. Marvin Jr. and Wagner can both be had tomorrow, imo, but they won't be going anywhere.

No to Rashad Penny.

Same goes to Robbie Anderson as he has too many off-field issues in the past two years and coming out of CFB.

LMMFAO at the thought of Greg Robinson.

Ryan Kerrigan is an interesting choice as he's locked in through 2020. Here's what LionsWire had to say about Kerrigan.

Kerrigan would be an absolutely perfect fit in Detroit and Matt Patricia’s defense. The 31-year-old has made the last three Pro Bowls, thanks to at least 11 sacks in every season. He’s one of the savviest pass rushers in the league, but also plays the run well.

The Lions’ biggest need is a pass rusher who can create pressure without needing scheming to help him. That’s Kerrigan.

He’s on the books for $11.5 million in 2020. Don’t let the big number scare you; that’s a below-market rate for a double-digit sack contributor, and the Lions have ample cap room to make it work.

Hat tip to Kent Platte of Pride of Detroit for the idea here!

Deadline is up, no deals. Guessing teams didn't think very highly of Slay. He's ours to finish out the season.

The Lions wanted too much compensation.
