You know, IF everything that has happened so far during the off-season has been Darcy's doing, and not Pegula dictating what will happen, Regier has made a solid case for himself as a good GM who did have his hands tied by a bad owner, ie Golisano.

I've never thought of him as a bad gm. Just a gm with a very short leash on him so you can't really judge him.

But now that's he's been given the green light and a fat wallet, its judgement day

I agree with this 100%. Even in the interviews on TV he seems far more relaxed and very open with what's going on. He took a little shot at previous owners a couple of days ago when he said "It's refreshing to have an owner that is will to open his wallet and enable us to get the people we need to win"

actually before i dispute this, the sabres traded for regher (sp) and the rights to erhoff correct?

did i miss / am i forgetting something else?

The OP never said otherwise. He is implying that these are pretty bold moves that the Sabres have not done in the past.

He can correct me if i'm wrong.

alright fair enough.. just wanted to make sure i didn't miss something haha

GM of the year is a bit premature.. pretty cool to see the sabres as buyers though for sure

To me its simple, I think there's every reason to believe sabres brass weren't really allowed to make bold moves in the past
