It's the same chances we had of obtaining Alex Mack.

"Licking our chops" is a good line for describing our current Linebacker Corps after you see Hobs' descriptions...

the link won't post, but go to www.bengals.com to see it.

New Linebackers' Coach Jim Haslett will have to prove he can coach a 4-3. He's been coaching a 3-4 exclusively forever. I don't think he's ever coached a 4-3 in his 21 years as a Coach. So, he and Dansby will both have a learning curve in this new scheme. Guenther should be able to help them both transition smoothly, coming from the Linebackers' ranks himself.

I'm sure he'll be fine..... He'd have to adjust no matter what - It's not his scheme, it's Marvin and Paul's scheme. Plenty of veterans will make his job easier as well.

PFF's take:

What it means for Cincinnati: The 34-year-old Dansby provides a significant upgrade in coverage, where the Bengals had some issues at linebacker, particularly from 2015 snap-leader Vincent Rey (whom Cincinnati recently re-signed). Rey finished with the 83rd-ranked coverage grade out of 94 qualifying linebackers in 2015, while Dansby ranked sixth and has graded positively against the pass every season since PFF began grading games (2007). Opposing quarterbacks averaged a 65.3 passer rating on 47 throws into his coverage, the fourth-best mark at the position, while only two linebackers hauled in more interceptions than Dansby’s three.

His impact in run defense might be less noticeable, after seeing a sizeable dropoff there last season (75th-ranked run grade). Tackling was less of an issue (seven missed tackles, sixth-best tackling-efficiency rating among ILBs) than a decreased ability to shed blocks at the second level. Dansby maintained above-average grades there, however, for four straight seasons prior to 2015, so perhaps he’ll be closer to his average after a change in scenery.

While PFF mentions that he had a decreased ability to shed blocks last season, something expected as age creeps into the equation, he'll have to shed fewer blocks transitioning from a 3-4 to a 4-3. So, his run productivity should increase over last season, where, as mentioned, he ranked 6th among all ILB's in Tackling Efficiency.

We've added a stud.
