I saw that last night. It was a sweet move, but I didn't think it was legal. "The puck must be kept in motion towards the opponent***8217;s goal line..." He completely stopped AND pulled the puck back. Seems like he violated the motion portion of the rule and I thought the ref should have disallowed it.
I can't wait until a guy skates in with a banana creme pie in one hand and really showers the goalie before potting a goal...

My problem is that spin-o-rama's are somehow allowed where the puck is going backwards, yet they would have to balls to disallow this one?
I think even Briere thought it would not count but it was close. At one point he drags the puck backwards but his body is still moving forward. Both body and puck never stopped moving at the same time, it was one or the other.
I may not have been mad if it did get disallowed though, I would have been happy enough with the goalie undressing.
spin-o-rama's and moves like last night are fine when it's not a shootout or penalty shot, but IMO, the goal last night should have been taken away.
But spin-o-rama's have happened in shootouts. Refs tend to let stuff like that fly and I think it is OK. Let them play hockey.
When you perform a "spin-o-rama" the puck is continually moving forward if done right. This definitely comes to a stop and might even back track a little. Bad goal, refs suck.

Whats that got to do with the shootout?![]()
i guess that all depends on your definition of done right.. in my definition of done right the player goes from his forehand, then drags the puck back behind him (on the back of his blade) as he spins around in a fore-hand to back-hand circle..
and the puck moving backwards thing doesn't really hold water to me.. there's been a ton of shootout shots where the shooter drags the puck backwards, whether to 'load' a shot or make a move around a goalie
