Carson Wentz had 607 passes.
110 of them over 15 yds from scrimmage. 18.12%

Wentz was 38/110 7 TDs 5 INTs in those throws.

Avg. 2.53 cmp per game in 7.33 pass attempts (only 15 weeks)
He had a 34.55% cmp pct in those 110 passes.

Next gen is missing week #17

he had exactly one game where he had over 50% cmp (week#6 against Min) he was 6/11

That means just under 500 passes were short yardage throws.

The down the field completion numbers says a lot about the guys he was throwing to. Eagles are going to be killing teams deep this season when they take their shots as long as we get most of the season out of DeSean and Reagor doesn't bust.

And anything under 15 yards is short yardage to you?

Short yardage to me is anything under 7 yards.

We were talking down field. So yes I use the 15 yards as considered downfield.
All pass plays should be looking for the sticks so I dont use the 10 yd mark.

before someone asks.
I did Daks as well.
Dak had 596 pass attempts.
130 of them were over 15 yards from scrimmage. 21.81%
Dak was 67/130 17 TDs 6 INTs over 15 yds from scrimmage.
Avg. 4.19 cmp of 8.13 per game
He had a 51.54% cmp pct in those 130 passes.
He had 9 different weeks where he was over 50%

10 yards doesn't get you a first down? All pass plays should be beyond the sticks? Yeah on 3rd down for sure but besides that, that is a weird proclamation.

Dak also had WRs with the speed and ability to go deep.

It's amazing to watch a fan that supposedly is a die hard fan for his Eagles not know much about his team...maybe he just doesn't understand the game.

Who is Daniel Jeremiah...I looked him up, he was formally a college scout that mainly covers the draft. Seems like a good guy but his rankings mean as much as a knowledgeable fan.

right.
A 10 yd out pattern isnt going downfield to me. Which is what you were talking about. Going deep or downfield no one is thinking a 10 yd pattern is throwing a long ball.

So I did Patrick mahomes as well since most of us think of him as the long ball King.

He threw 484 passes (missed two games due to injury)
116 passes were over 15 yards from scrimmage. 23.97%
Mahomes was 56/116 14 TDs 3 INTs over 15 yds from scrimmage.
Avg. 4.00 cmp of 8.29 per game (14 games)
He had a 48.28% cmp pct in those 116 passes.
He had 5 different weeks where he was over 50%

No I wasn't:

He doesn't though. Outside of screens the Eagles aren't running an offense of quick dink and dunk passes like the Giants Eli offense. It's a lot of intermediate throws. The past two seasons the offense has been dependent on long 10+ play scoring drives because they haven't had the WRs to throw to down the field. It's purely a product of personnel. We know this because we have 2017 as an example.

I'm not sure what delusions you have to think the Eagles added a lot of speed at WR to operate an offense on 2-5 yard passing players. That isn't who they are and that isn't what they are planning on doing. The one game with DeSean last season is another example of how they plan on attacking all parts of the field when they have complimentary players on the field that allows them to attack at all levels.

I have been talking about how the Eagles aren't a dink and dunk offense where Wentz is throwing nothing but these short and dump off passes. It is a lot of intermediate throws. 7-15 yards because what the Eagles personnel has dictated over the past two seasons. As DeSean showed and as 2017 showed the Eagles want to take their shots down the field and have that explosive element as part of their offense. That's one of the biggest complaints some Eagles fans have about Wentz is that they perceive him as holding the ball too long trying to force something down the field instead of taking a short check down or making a quick short pass.

I've been quite clear that they haven't been able to go deep down the field as much as they would like and with as much success as they would like over the past two years due to the WRs and that is why this past draft they clear goal of adding as much speed as they could to the WR position.

119 passes were over 15 yards from scrimmage. 23.06%
Wilson was 52/119 12 TDs 1 INTs over 15 yds from scrimmage.
Avg. 3.47 cmp of 7.93 per game (15 games)
He had a 43.70% cmp pct in those 119 passes.

just for you.
Again Next Gen was missing week 17 so excluding the final week

Carson Wentz threw 317 of his 567 passes 7 yards or less (55.91%)
Avg per game 21.1/37.8 Short passes/att.
11 of those 15 weeks he had thrown 50% or more passes less than 7 yards.
6 of those times it was over 60%
Lowest pct of one game was 41.86% (week#2)

So acting like the Eagles dont like throwing the underneath stuff.......... Well maybe now we can put that to bed.

The Eagles like throwing at all parts of the field. The issue is that the personnel at WR has seriously hurt their ability to have any established success passing the ball down the field.

not gonna argue your WR situation wasnt ideal. I agree with that.
but my argument with PE1 was before the start of last year. Which is why I knew Wentz throws a lot of dump off passes.
It had actually started off with defending Dak & PE1's over the top about Wentz. Then I realized when researching. The eagles were doing what PE1 was accusing Dak of doing. Also learned Dak went deeper more often than wentz. Which is why I started to track this last year, because this topic has been ongoing for years. So I already knew I was right on this.
