Expected.

Kind of a bummer he left Ottawa for one measly playoff win.

I have a feeling things will be patched up with the Sens and he'll end up with a front office job.

I know that the Sens were being cheap and Melnyk was being a douchecanoe, but I wonder if Paul MacLean had anything to do with Alfie moving on

I've become increasingly critical of the Walrus but I doubt this very much. MacLean loves his vets and Alfie seemed to genuinely love the last couple of years he played in Ottawa.

I think he left because:

1) Something was said by Melnyk,

and

2) He wanted to play with his Swedish buddies in Detroit; the remark (not saying I know EXACTLY what it was) by Melnyk pushed him in this direction.

Promised contract
Promise broken

He certainly had a reason to leave. Wish he was returning. Really enjoyed his game.

Prime. One year. Do you take Alfy?

Nope. I take Hossa at his best. That guy has been the best two-way forward of his generation.

Alfie's prime was right up there though.

Agreed. Hossa was always one of my favorite opposing players. Still is, even though he plays with the Evil Empire...

Good Luck Alfie, in whatever you do post NHL Career.

Hossa's prime in OTT over Alfredsson's prime in OTT? I'd take Alfy over Hossa there.

Hossas prime in Atlanta was amazing. Truly underrated.

I think at his prime, Marian Hossa was amazing - his two way game was incredible - I think his offensive game maybe had a little more longevity than Alfie but both were amazing

Yeah. I'd still take Hossa's best year in OTT: 45 goals at the peak of the dead puck era?

That's on a team with Radek Bonk and Todd White as your top 2 Cs too. Amazing.

It's close but I'd definitely take Hoss.
