Bottom line Dan Snyder doesn't want KC as the Redskins franchise QB. If he did, he would have been signed last year. Have no idea to what extent Snyder meddles in other personnel decisions ( I suspect minimal) but when teams commit to 100M contracts. owners get involved.

Here is a question for all you long time fans. Besides Gibbs, has Dan ever had a parting of the ways with an employee where he didn't trash they guy and attempt to ruin his career? Im talking high level guy such as GM or HC. If you really go back and scrutinize all of Dan's hiring mistakes, when the time came for him to ax the guy, Dan had leaked out trash about the guy weeks, and sometimes months, ahead of the final ax. Most, if not all, of his firings never worked again in the NFL in anything resembling the same capacity.

As for SM, clearly he has had drinking issues. But the latest "leak" says that he showed up multiple times in the locker room drunk. I find this very hard to believe for the simple reason that in most locker rooms before or after practice or a game, there are over 100 people, including both players and reporters. If SM had made it a habit of drinking and going into the locker room, that would have leaked. Especially as it became apparent a few weeks ago that something was amiss. I'm taking Dad's approach on this one. Until someone puts their name to it and says they saw SM drunk at the Park or at FedEx, I'm no buying it. Allen and Snyder have not earned the right to be trusted to tell the truth about anything.
As far as I know, everyone except Gibbs has left on bad terms. It must be a coincidence.

How do we come back from this ?

For starters the organization needs to tackle this head on. Don't hide behind a few statements made to the press and perhaps some leaks. People always say that they don't know the real story & a big reason is because this organization appears to operate in such a covert manner.

Have an open dialogue with the press and the fans and let them know where you stand & how you plan to address things moving forward. Here's a thought - how about Snyder actually showing his face every now and then? We are not talking about National Security here - no reason to be so hush hush about everything. Oh well - just a thought.

Not that it means shit cuz, well, it don't really mean shit, but I believe Snyder let Marty use Redskins One when Marty's wife or a close family member was sick. I also remember seeing Marty on an intereview once after he had been fired and he said somemthing to the effect of. He and Snyder had become friends during his time in DC, would remain friends and while they had a difference of opinion leading to a parting of the ways. He respected Snyder yadda yadda yadda.

Snyder has also let Pierre Garcon and a few other players use his jet to fly supplies to Haiti.

That still don't mean shit far as what he's done to destroy what was a once proud franchise. Or how he has went about the smear campaigns and character assassins he's enacted against people.

10 Amazingly Good Acts Performed By Bad People - Listverse

Fair pt. As I stated elsewhere - most folks have good and bad sides. Being objective I am sure that Snyder does some good things for his family, team & community - some of which you detail in your examples. IMO still does not excuse how he runs the team or some of his apparent recent actions. Just depressing to me since I thought that he had turned a corner a few years ago after the hiring of SM.

I don't think agents steered clear. Three guys were signed and another visited. Money talks and bullshit walks. They did not pay $16 million dollars for a 2nd round pick. That would upset me a lot more.

Hey don't hate on the Browns that trade was smart. I wish we had the Browns front office right now.

That trade was smart for Houston. They signed BO to a big contract and got out of it. How is paying $16 million for a 2nd round pick smart? This trade will be big news at the next owners meeting. This is an NBA style trade and not supposed to be legal in the NFL. Notice the Browns said they were going to get rid of him then reversed and said "oh he will compete."

Oh its definitely a bit sketchy given the rules but it's a genius trade. They had soooo much cap space (still do). That money wasn't gonna be used for anything else. They just got themselves a 2nd round pick. Their FO is just stockpiling picks. Cleveland actually seems to have their shit together.

So your saying that Scott was dead weight and wasn't worth the salary for the Skins?

What do you all think now about the whole SM firing situation now that he has broken his silence and only had nice things to say about Snyder?

I am indifferent. Most are mad at Allen but I am not. SM has been abruptly let go by three teams now. I am not blaming SM, just stating the facts. From all I heard he was more scout than anything.

Although I have seen some say differently I do not think Scot would have done anything more than Allen to sign Cousins. Scot did not believe in spending a ton on one player because it hurt you when it comes to signing other players. I don't believe Scot was behind signing Josh Norman. That entire scenario smacked of Snyder and Allen. I am not surprised Gruden is as involved as he is. Remember the "guard" comment.

I think Allen's biggest job while he is hear is to secure a stadium deal for the Redskins. We will have to wait for the 2 or three years to see how the team does in the draft and free agency. I don't believe SM would have signed the FAs that the Skins signed this past year. He did not believe in spending much money in FA and said as much in that interview.

My feelings are unchanged simply because SM took the high road. And what a high road he took, sounded like he was ready to buy season tickets. But as we know it was complete bullshit, who is this OK after being fired? No that was PR in hopes of getting another gig.

When asked to confirm that he wanted to extend Kirk SM said it was an "organizational decision" not to do so. Again Dan propped him up as the final decision maker, now we are hearing yet more info that says that was a lie.

Nope, not over that at all.

Not disagreeing with you, but apparently SM had no involvement with the KC negotiations. In that interview, he stated he hadn't spoken to KC's agent in over a year. SO clearly he wasn't the final decision maker on KC. As typical of the Redskins, disfunction reigns still.

Again didn't they say he was in charge of personnel? How does the decision not to sign your franchise QB not involve the General Manager unless we were lied to?

Oh, I agree. Disfunction is normal. We have been lied to since day 1 with Dan's ownership. SM was a GM in name only. It turns out he was nothing more than a glorified scout. I think the reason he is gone (not buying the drinking angle) is that he stepped on Allen's toes too many times when he tried to delve into personnel issues.

Yeah I agree. I also think they saw his poor 2015 off season and no return at all from his rookie class this last season and in typical Redskins fashion overreacted and fired him way too soon.

Or maybe SM took the high road because there was a contractual issue involving alcohol. We will never actually know.
