So you think Kirk is BO? Wow

No no...Kirk is better than BO but he would get paid a huge contract and he could very well be a system QB. Sorry for the confusion. I was 11 years old when Rypien won us the Super Bowl so I will take your word for how Rypien was perceived before that glorious season. But I do know that there was no salary cap back then and we were able to keep all our players. I just think overpaying Kirk is a bad idea the money we would overspend on a system QB would be better spend in other aspects of our team.

I completely understand, but giving Kirk what he wants would not prevent us from fixing the rest of the team. Getting him signed long term would actually lower his cap number for this year and next and actually create more cap space.

We will have to agree to disagree on this one gents...if Kirk turns into an All-Pro QB for another team ill be the first to admit i was wrong and kick myself for it because I am clearly in the minority on this one. But I've watched everyone of his games and he doesn't have "it" if he had "it" we would have beaten the Giants gone on to the playoffs and I wouldn't be typing any of this shit right now.

You might be right. That Giants int was soul crushing. He's gone from having those 4 pick games to untimely picks. He's getting there. I just know Colt and Suds don't have it and neither did Brunell, Ramsey, Campbell, Weurfell, Matthews, RG3 post injury, McNabb, Beck, Grossman, Friez, Banks, or George. We finally got a guy, but I'll let it go too. We are at an impass.

I am a results guy. SM was here for 2 years. Both seasons we had a winning record. It must be a coincidence. It isn't like SM ever built championship teams elsewhere.

So instead this organization goes with the proven record of Bruce Allen...a proven record of failure.

Our best QB EVER has a losing record?
I think when I quit the 'skins last off-season I should have never come back.
Until Dan dies, the Skins will suck -- lock this, frame it. bookmark it, look at it two years from now when the team goes out in the first round. Dan's death = Redskins life

You mean to tell me Dan has a top 5 franchise and can't figure out the ideal players to fit a 3-4?
According to Mike Shanahan, he knew what he wanted his QB to run on offense.
Dude is making so much money, I honestly believe winning does not matter.
...what else makes sense?

Maybe because he had the brains to NOT start RGMe, to actually draft to fix the O-line. Just a thought.

SM's performance here was only OK to date. He gets credit for rebuilding the OL when 4 of the starters were already on the roster. The only move he made there was Scherff and it cost the fifth pick and another Pro Bowl player in Leonard Williams.

But this isn't about that. It's about the same old same old in Ashburn. The reports that jealousy would result in the team using his drinking as the excuse, calling it months ago tells us everything we need to know.

Do you still believe this won't affect our ability to attract and sign proven talent, both on the field and in the front office?

Here is a question for all you long time fans. Besides Gibbs, has Dan ever had a parting of the ways with an employee where he didn't trash they guy and attempt to ruin his career? Im talking high level guy such as GM or HC. If you really go back and scrutinize all of Dan's hiring mistakes, when the time came for him to ax the guy, Dan had leaked out trash about the guy weeks, and sometimes months, ahead of the final ax. Most, if not all, of his firings never worked again in the NFL in anything resembling the same capacity.

As for SM, clearly he has had drinking issues. But the latest "leak" says that he showed up multiple times in the locker room drunk. I find this very hard to believe for the simple reason that in most locker rooms before or after practice or a game, there are over 100 people, including both players and reporters. If SM had made it a habit of drinking and going into the locker room, that would have leaked. Especially as it became apparent a few weeks ago that something was amiss. I'm taking Dad's approach on this one. Until someone puts their name to it and says they saw SM drunk at the Park or at FedEx, I'm no buying it. Allen and Snyder have not earned the right to be trusted to tell the truth about anything.

Maybe the drinking part is only half the story. Perhaps KC exuberantly saying to SM "how ya like me now" was a statement on SM being the one who did not believe in him. Perhaps SM got himself fired for botching this KC situation to where we are now by putting the Skins in deep hole and impasse now. Seems obvious by that remark that it was SM who was the one who refused to give KC the going rate last year.

But here we are now. Word is that KC will sign the tag in coming weeks... if not days. Play one more year here and bolt. Hope im wrong cuz in my belief KC will only get better. I read somewhere up there that KC does not have the "it" factor. I strongly disagree with that. Yes that int to end the year was his fault but don't let a bad pass turn you into a KC non believer. Isnt that kind of thinking what got the Skins into this mess we find ourselves in now. He has far more impressive moments than bad.

I was thinking the same thing earlier in the week as retpec just said, maybe they blame SM for the Kirk situation. I also think it's naïve for fans to totally eliminate the possibility that SM's drinking played a big role given his history.

But this is more than just Kirk or SM. The issue here is Dan and Bruce propped up SM for all to see and told us that he had full control of all decisions related to personnel. It was a new day and things would be different. Now we are learning that they looked us in the face and lied. Again. He never had that total control starting with his inability to bring in his own scouts. That my friends is the story here. Nothing in Ashburn has changed Nothing in Ashburn will ever change and this is clearly a no hope ever situation.

I made a few comments this week about being done and I'm dead serious. I just can't root for this organization anymore. Usually by September I've calmed down and get onboard but I am dead serious, I am rooting for 1-15 and total fan revolt. They deserve it.

Yeah there are varying reports. I heard that as well Dad. But I still go back to Kirk screaming "how you like me now!" as evidence that SM wanted another look.

I highly recommend listening to Al Galdi's show this morning on ESPN 980. I think he hits some key points about the relationship. This is but one: McCloughan is the guy who has ties with the press so stories tend to have a positive slant for him whereas Bruce is hated by the local media. I did not say that as an "oh poor Bruce" moment. You have to listen to all of what he talks about.

There are no innocent victims here. At the same time I can understand why he was fired. Timing bad? Yes. Could it have been done better? Yes. Is the team screwed? Only time will tell.

Notice some guys some of you were hi on i.e. Pryor and Poe are still available. It doesn't mean they suck, but they might not have had the same value some here assigned them before FA period started.

I think even with the signing of the two DLman the Skins still need to address the Dline. Still need a LBer, still need a RB. Could still use a G and possibly a WR.

I loved Swaggy, he was a character but saying he was the best of a bad DL doesn't mean you should keep him. I would have liked for the Skins to have retained one of their WRs. Lets see what happens. I still hope they can sign Cousins long term. San Fran signed a 2nd QB last night, Barkley. It seems the Cousins to San Fran line was BS.

"Bad timing" is the understatement of the year. Of all 365 days on the calendar a day before free agency was literally the worst day of the entire year to have this disaster. Instead of concentrating on free agents and the draft our President is dealing with all of this as agents steer clients away from a dumpster fire.

I don't think agents steered clear. Three guys were signed and another visited. Money talks and bullshit walks. They did not pay $16 million dollars for a 2nd round pick. That would upset me a lot more.

Yeah, but it was a lot of fun losing games with 38-35n type scores. Different times, always hope!! I need help. just dialed 1-800-U-screwed hotline and got the Nelson Muntz (Simpsons) "Ha-Ha" greeting!... Sigh!!
