You cannot even compare the two?!?! As least put up a better comparision of a young QB.. Say RG3, Wilson, etc. hardly any other young QB's would compare but i certainly wouldnt pick Dalton to even be in the same class as Kaep.

The thing is, say they switched spots. Dalton would be a much better QB in SF as proof by what they were able to do with Alex Smith last year. Also Cincinnati's coaching staff could never run and come up with an offense that would show off Kaeps skills. IF they switched placed I would guarantee that Dalton would be the better QB with the better stats.

The lesson, as always is to NEVER, EVER ready those propaganda boards.

I'm pretty sure that at least 15 personalities on that board belong to Geoff Hobson.

My feeling is, if SF drafted Dalton, they'd still be running Alex Smith out there.

They aren't stupid.

Dalton will be a backup in this league in 3 years.

he has 2 years to figure out how to use receivers like Sanu, Jones, and Hawkins
A good QB would be fine with that.

Can we petition the league to make him change his name to Pumpernickel? That would be sweet.

Probably. Alex Smith had a 104 passer rating this year and Harbaugh still chose to go with Kaepernick because he saw something in him that made him believe a QB change would take them to the Super Bowl. What would Harbaugh have seen in Dalton that would've convinced him to demote a QB with a 104 passer rating?

There is the assumption here of course that Alex Smith would've been the Niners' starting QB last year and the beginning of this season even if the Niners had drafted Dalton.

Smith would still be the quarterback right now had he not got concussed. And if he would have led them to the Super Bowl, Kaepernick might not have ever played a down for the Niners.

yep. Without AJ Green to throw sloppy passes to so he can perform his miracles, Dalton is just another Colt McCoy. Not saying he can't improve, or do better, but that's on him.

He wouldn't have. I could see them possibly beating GB, but they don't get passed Atlanta with Smith. With Smith in the beginning of the season, the offense wasn't the same as it was last season (disclaimer: no stats, just the eye test). Teams had begun taking away Vernon Davis and much of their big play ability. I'm not even sure they get the 1st round bye.

Smith was along for the ride, Kaepernick actually makes them better.
