I agree, Andy is doing pretty dang well. He is only a second year QB, is doing better than last year where he got a pro-bowl selection even though it was because others had to drop out, but still, a decent season last year, and a bit better this year.

I am not disappointed in him, even with the INT's being up per pass attempt right now, because he is throwing for more yards, has had more games put on his shoulders, and has faced a much tougher defensive schedule this year.

He's had 2 great weeks and a few very good games this season. I'd still like to see him put up a big game against a top pass defense -- Something he hasn't been able to do yet.

His numbers look pretty damn good for a second year player - I guess the big question is whether he'll continue to get better.

2.NE
3.Pitt
4.Bmore
5.San Fran
6.Houston

Do that and you are getting it done...Until then Andy is the 2nd coming of Rich Gannon.....SHOW ME!

I like the kid but do it against the BIG BOYS!

Gannon was a four time pro-bowler and he won the league MVP one year. I'd take that.

Well, you have to keep in mind, that play call plays a part of his game, along with the players around him. Up until a couple weeks ago, most his players have been pretty pedestrian outside AJ. Gresham finally stepped up his game, Sanu is finally starting to emerge, the defense is playing a little better taking a little pressure off him, and the playbook has been opened up and they have taken more chances.

They are not great on 3rd down, but the offense is something like 8-11 on 4th downs this year, which is pretty incredible since a lot of those 4th downs are well longer than 2 yards.

I know last year Dalton threw 15 TD's and 0 INT's in the red zone, but I have no idea how that is this year. How is he doing there this year?

Andy has struggled a bit this year, but he is doing better overall than last year, where as Cam Newton has struggled mightily. Defenese have got used to Newton and Dalton, but Andy is still improving, Cam has had a little bit of a setback. The fact he is still improving on a team that has little going for it over 2 decades, has no running game, at times a pretty weak oline, I have been impressed overall with him. Is he Peyton Manning or Tom Brady? He certainly is not, but not a bad little QB to run a franchise for a decade. He is not flashy and doesn't have huge numbers, which is good, because he is goign to make it under the radar, because we are goign to need him not to make a mint on payday, because with everyone talking about AJ Green being the next 100 million dollar WR, we are going to need to save some coin on QB.

Andy's stats have improved (see below), but I haven't seen any real improvement in his game.

His decision making overall has seemed to take a hit, but most of that probably has to do with teams getting used to him. His accuracy downfield has not improved. And he still hasn't shown the ability to consistently throw in tight windows with any accuracy.

And despite your contention, the defenses this year have been WORSE than last season. Our offensive play calling is also improved.

It really helps Andy that he has AJ Green. Without him the numbers would likely be much more pedestrian. Still, I am hopeful for him, and not getting picked the last two games is a good sign. I think the last six weeks will tell us much about whether he has really improved or not. If he can put together a good game vs Pittsburgh or Baltimore I'm more likely to become a believer, since there's a good chance the playoffs will be on the line. We backed in last year and got dusted in the first round. If we're to be in the playoffs this year we'll have to earn our way in, and Dalton will have to perform.

Lowest common denominator, eh, kman? It's seldom as simple as you portray it.

It's usually more simple, actually. That goes for everything in life. I've lived by that fact for years now...almost like a religion to me.

I believe Dalton's career will outshine Kitna's. But, that's what makes horseraces.
