Radio guys talking about Weber being the backup to Zeke this year and Pollard being the scat back/receiver type guy. IF both work out and make the team that sounds like a good ying/yang type situation behind Zeke and they are saying we remade the RB depth chart with these two behind Zeke and Olawale.

FRISCO, Texas – A full breakdown of the Cowboys’ first seventh-round draft pick (No. 213 overall) Saturday:

Name: Donovan Wilson

Position: Safety

College: Texas A&M

Height/Weight: 6-0/199

The Rundown: Wilson was a defensive captain and three-year starter for the Aggies, posting eight interceptions in four healthy seasons. (He missed all but one game in 2017 with an ankle injury and received a medical redshirt. Wilson led A&M with 66 tackles and a team-best two picks in 2018.

How He Fits In: The Cowboys signed veteran George Iloka in free agency but sought more safety competition through the draft. Looking long-term, backup Kavon Frazier is entering the final year of his contract, as is starter Jeff Heath. Wilson will try to crack the depth chart but will likely have to earn a spot on special teams first. The Cowboys have had recent luck with sixth-round safeties: Xavier Woods (2017 class) had a solid first year as a starter last year.

Next Cowboys Pick: 7th Round (218th overall)

Absolutely LOVED the Joe Jackson kid. Telling you right now, Coach Rod will turn this kid into a beast. Really liked the Mike Jackson pick as well, ram 4.45 at 210, think they move him to safety

This ended up being a really good draft. Got some guys in the later rounds that have good measurables. Not real fond of the running backs we took. I give us a B for this haul

Jones said they believed McGovern was "by far" the best player remaining when they went on the clock in the third round. He was the last player on their board with a second-round grade.

"To me, he was a classic case of us doing our best to look up at that board and say, 'Who is the best player up there?' He, for us, was by far the best player at that time," Cowboys coach Jason Garrett said. "He's exactly what we want in our offensive linemen. He's smart, he's tough, he loves to play the game, he plays the game the right way, he has some position flex.

"More than anything else, it was us looking at each other and saying, 'There's the blinking light.'"

An interesting note from McGovern's conference call: He was 5-10, 200 pounds during his freshman year of high school. He hit a growth spurt his junior year and shot up to 6-5, 290. At the combine, McGovern measured in at 6-5, 308.
