Guys, I am telling you, he did this as a favor to the team and Leonsis.

The Caps had to get rid of Boudreau because of how toxic it had become. They did not want to have to do a spur of the moment, who is out there, arm behind their back hiring and be wrapped into a multi-year deal.

Hunter was a stop gap. He would have left, even if the Caps had won the Cup. That was why he only had the one year deal. Now the Caps can take their time and work through a proper search.

As for his jacket, HE OWNS THE TEAM! Who cares.

Thank you Dale!

I agree with the jacket thing...I just think as a player it may bother me a bit.

Why not? The other system wasn't working either.

Right, but you're basically saying to these guys "we're gonna try this, and even if we have success with it, you'll only be using it this year." Just a lot of work for the players who will likely be trying out their third scheme in less than a year come camp time.

Yes, agree.

I think the whole "learning a new system" is overrated in hockey. Pens changed coaches mid-season and won a Cup. Flyers' changed coaches mid-season and made it to the Finals. And even the Caps changed coaches and had, what could arguably be, their best run in the playoffs in the last 5 years.

What I would love is a coach that has the same disciplined approach to the game as Hunter with a better mind for running the offense. Hunter did some good things as a mentor/disciplinarian, but his Xs and Os and some of his personnel decisions are a little bit shocking to me.

Me either, cause the Pens took the Isles too lightly in that series when they found out Turgeon couldn't play...

Fuck You Volek!
